Aion is all about PvP. Even PvE is mainly done to gain PvP related currencies and items, but should it be allowed to interfere with character leveling and PvE focused zones? Not so long ago, most of the level 60-65 zones have been removed by NCSoft and replaced by new, mutual zones.

Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow are making their way to 3DS soon, and if you haven't played them in a while -- perhaps since you were kid, like me -- you're in for some real weird sprites.
Between "Tiny Turtle," shirtless Brock, and a return to plump Pikachu, this trailer has me convinced that no matter how poorly the games have aged, I'm still going to have a blast reliving them.
Hooooo doggy, was Podtoid 323: Garbage Fish really a whole ding darn week ago? Time flies when you're having fun, which I love to have, with my online pals. And fish fly like a shoddy paper airplane with rapidly writhing musculature!
It was a great 'cast, though, and pat yourselves on the back because, boy, it had a whole lot to do with the excellent questions proffered right here in the streets we live on, the comments section.
It'd sure be alright if ya'll had s'more to ask. You know where to leave 'em.
Thanks to a prosperous run on Kickstarter, Heart Machine brought in enough funding for its slick action-RPG Hyper Light Drifterto target a good spread of platforms. But one of the planned versions, the Wii U port, might not pan out. It is "currently in limbo," according to the team.
"We had information about our engine [GameMaker: Studio], two years back, when we announced support for the platform. This had assured us we could port to the Wii U with relatively little hassle by now. However, due to ongoing internal contractual issues beyond our control between the platform holder and engine developer, we just don't know when or if this situation will have a good resolution. We are looking into the options available and doing what we can to help push the issue, including posting about it here."
The Wii U version may happen yet, so Kickstarter backers will still be able put themselves down for it, at least for the time being. "We would rather keep this option open, knowing there's still a possibility for it to work, than cancel the port right now," said Heart Machine. If all else fails, backers will be given a key for Hyper Light Drifter on another platform of their choice.
On the whole, "Development continues to be very intense, so updates will remain a bit spartan. Looking forward to next month with details on release date!"
Before Sony rolls out the next PlayStation 4 software update, it will hold a beta in early March to give the curious among us "a sneak peek at some of the features" coming to the console.
Lots of people seem to want lots of different things for the system -- folders, custom backgrounds, the ability to hide apps and/or games in your library, to name a few recurring requests -- but I just want to change my PlayStation Network ID. We know you know, Sony.
Like a brutally booked handicap match, WWE 2K16 launched a bit shorthanded this year. It released on the usual platforms of PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, but a PC version was nowhere to be found. Publisher 2K obviously wanted to focus its efforts on the console front.
Almost five months later, its music hits and the PC version comes running down the long ramp. It was announced today that WWE 2K16 will launch on Windows PC on March 11, 2016 for $49.99. This package is bulked up though, as it has all the DLC and pre-order bonuses that consoles have received thus far.
The WWE franchise has been met with mixed reception in past years, often not quite hitting the mark for fans. The bright side is that a PC port should open up a world of possibilities for modders. Don't expect it to take more than a couple days for there to be a very well-done AJ Styles, New Day with a trombone, and, if all's right in this world, Bayley being awesome.
Hello everyone. I'm Steven Hansen, Features Editor of Destructoid Pizza. Have you heard of Hatsune Miku? Today I'd like to announce a new, collaborative project featuring Hatsune Miku. This XCOM 2 mod, featuring Hatsune Miku('s hair).
Bless this mess.
I've been weighing the idea of Spider Armor because deep in my XCOM 2 campaign I haven't lost a soldier but I have also failed to develop (or afford) any armor beyond the starting gear. I got plasma guns and zero protection. Spider Armor seems like it could be useful coupled with Death from Above snipers, though.
Over at the PlayStation Blog, four more characters were confirmed for the King of Fighters XIV roster. The standout is series newcomer King of Dinosaurs, whose name parallelism with the series title is only topped by the fact that he's a luchadorosuars; or, a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurs.
Did you know that the earliest mammals -- tiny, rodent-like little things -- lived alongside the dinosaurs? A hairy lil live-birthing, young-carrying, milk-producing son of a gun that scampered about at night when all the giant reptiles were asleep. Today's humble echidna and platypus are our best living analogs, but these early mammals would've been smaller and mousier still.
As far as incremental games go, AdVenture Capitalistwas one of the most effective at reeling me in and holding tight. We had such a lovely capture bond for a while there. The team behind that title, Hyper Hippo, is continuing its work in the genre with an upcoming PC and mobile game based on RuneScape of all things. (I suppose if Katamari is up for the treatment, anyone is.)
For those of you who can still remember the lingo: "In RuneScape: Idle Adventures, you're the wielder of an Elder Artefact known as the Needle. It's your job to nurture and protect Gielinor, doing whatever it takes -- from fishing trout to grappling with the gods -- to help those who call it home. While Idle Adventures' story is separate from the World Guardian's, you may recognise familiar locations and situations -- all wrapped up in a breezy narrative style."
Idle Adventures is hitting Steam first, sometime this spring, with iOS and Android releases to follow.
Ubisoft is opening up its bleak take on New York City to everyone this weekend. Ahead of The Division's March 8 launch, the game's getting another beta. Anyone with a PC, PS4, or Xbox One can join the battle against societal collapse.
Here's what's in store for this Division beta. The event runs through this weekend from February 19 through February 21 on PC and PS4. Xbox One owners luck out and get an exclusive 24-hour headstart on the shenanigans, meaning that their open beta starts tomorrow, February 18.
Ubisoft has added some extra content to this, so it won't be the exact same as the beta from a few weeks ago. According to this trailer, there's an "exclusive open beta mission." It hasn't been said if this is the only difference, but the PvP Dark Zone has likely been tweaked. And, all those PC exploits have probably been addressed.
To save concern about pesky download times, The Division's open beta is available to pre-load on all platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One). The file size looks to weigh in right under 25GB. For those who still have it installed from the previous beta, a new download isn't necessary; there will be a smaller patch to bring it up to date.
Ubisoft has some awfully high expectations for The Division, as the company's CEO recently said that he anticipates it'll be one of the most popular launches in video game history for a new property. A crucial step to that is ensuring a smooth release-period so that consumers aren't put off by persistent problems. In theory (and sometimes in practice), these betas help greatly with that.

Mojang is finally getting into the curated monthly delivery business. It's basically Loot Crate, in that subscribers sign up for a monthly box called a "Mine Chest," which will run you $29.99. Right now it's in its beta phase, and the first run will have an exclusive shirt, but other items will show up periodically like figures, recipes, and more.
I know a ton of kids who are going to beg for this thing, especially since the "crate" looks like the actual chest from the game. Also, holy shit -- did you see how nice that house is in the announcement post header? Their target audience is loaded!
But Granzella is also working with Bandai Namco on another PS4 and Vita game about navigating calamity, City Shrouded in Shadow.
Instead of natural disaster happening all around you, it's a giant Ultraman wrecking up the place. And is that Godzilla's shadow? Pretty great idea. It's like the Alien: Isolation of disaster games. No, that makes no sense. But I like games where there are things much bigger than you that you must overcome. And not just a large boss easily dispatched. Real daunting shit.
The latest game based on the Attack on Titan anime is about to loose itself on Japan (February 18 for PS3, PS4, and Vita), so here's the intro if you can't wait to see anatomical muscular models until it gets some kind of western release.
Better still, my own mental gymnastics of linking these titanic nasties to The Life of Pablo by way of a clever Pappademas riff on "Old Kanye" and the red, mad, and nude meme (from when that one guy who was very red and not at all mad took his clothes off to try and win an argument on Twitter, bless). But seriously, like others have said, I would like an album-length feature of Kanye rapping his name with things.
But seriously folks, these Titans are red, mad, and nude as hell.
Normally, thinking about Hell conjures up images of fire, torture, and torture by fire. Pinstripe goes more for the Inferno ninth circle look; this place is cold. But in addition to that, it is hauntingly beautiful. The wistful piano backing complements the frigid landscape perfectly, but the most impressive bit is that both the art and music were made by one person. Oh, and he codes the thing too.
Pinstripe is about a minister traveling through Hell to find his daughter. The one-man development has taken four years but is now nearing completion, and jack-of-all-trades Thomas Brush put the project up on Kickstarter today, seeking the last bit of funding needed for him to work on it full time. It seems like it's resonating with the audience; it has already hit its base funding goal of $28,000.
Warren Spector, the man behind Deux Ex and Epic Mickey, as well as the producer on the original System Shock, has joined OtherSide entertainment, the studio announced today:
"Warren has acted as a Creative Advisor to OtherSide since the studio's inception. Following the end of this semester's classes at UT Austin, he will transition into a full-time position as one of OtherSide’s Studio Directors. Warren will continue to help in a creative capacity on Underworld Ascendant and, later this year, ramp up and lead the team developing System Shock 3."
System Shock 3 was announced in December by OtherSide, a development studio helmed by former System Shock designer Tim Stellmach, who was also Lead Designer on Thief: The Dark Project and Thief II: The Metal Age.
Spector offered in a statement, "Working on System Shock was one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done in my career and it’s hard to describe how much I’m looking forward to sharing with players what SHODAN has been up to since the last game was released."
It's been a rather productive past few weeks! In addition to having plenty of time to play through both versions of Fire Emblem Fates, I also had the opportunity to take on Revelation -- the third story in the series. Like its parent releases, it's a weird prospect: the game only ships by way of the Special Edition on the same cart, or in March as $20 DLC.
Yep, if you didn't pick up the limited bundle you'll not only have to wait to buy it, but you also cannot own the game physically. And that's a shame, because it's actually worth playing.
After delivering one of its best strategy games in years with Fire Emblem Awakening, I couldn't help but think "how could they top this?" Awakening had pretty much everything you could want -- an intriguing cast embroiled in a well-paced storyline, combined with the series pedigree of surgical tactical action.
But for the most part, Intelligent Systems did it. It managed to build on the pillars of Awakening and deliver a one-two (well, technically three) punch with Fire Emblem Fates -- though one version excited me a little less than the others.
What is this? The PSP version of Final Fantasy Tactics?
Square Enix's lovely looking Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna is set to launch in Japan today, and people are already trying out the PS4 and Vita versions. Apparently the latter has a major problem though -- really long load times.
As you can see in this video below, load times for screen transitions can top out as long as 13 seconds, whereas the PS4 edition takes a few seconds. There are people who can deal with that sort of thing, and I salute you, but I've played enough JRPGs to know that it would drive me mad around the 40-hour mark.
Sony is going to be releasing a "Vita Starter Kit" bundle in Japan, where the portable is actually doing alright. It'll launch on March 3, and will run people 19,980 yen (roughly $175).
It includes a 16GB memory card (not enough), a power cord, AC adapter, USB cable, and of course, a Wi-Fi enabled Vita. Man, the memory card situation is so unfortunate -- a 64GB card will still run you upwards of $90 or more years later on average. Sony, what were you thinking? I love the Vita, but they were responsible for its demise.
I have prepared a "Starter Kit" for the Vita's upcoming future below.
The $50 3DS Mega Man Legacy Collection Collector's Edition is set to arrive next week (along with the physical editions of the PS4 and Xbox One versions), and Capcom sent over a copy for perusal. Here's all the info you'll need.
For months amiibo collectors have been wondering if the figure would come in a separate case, and the good news is that it technically does -- but it's woefully generic, and doesn't even have a label. On top of that, there's a blocker in there to prevent you from using it through the box. Curiously the figure is only available in the bundle, and isn't even coming to Europe.
Beyond that the special edition comes with six postcards of art from each game. Inside of the game case (meaning, everyone will get the following) are several stickers and a card with a code to download 18 tracks from the game's soundtrack at this site, as well as two exclusive Mega Man 3DS themes.
In other words, if you don't need the amiibo (which only collectors will, as the original Mega Man figure unlocks the challenges too), you can stick with the $30 standard edition, especially since the 11 challenges it unlocks aren't anything to write home about. They're just rehashes, albeit with cute themes like "Don't Fall [in the series of pits]" and a Wily boss rush, but they're mostly forgettable. A lot of you will probably be happy to hear that the amiibo content isn't essential. Oh, and one more thing -- I tested it by turning off my 3DS, and you'll need to re-scan the amiibo to unlock them during each startup.
As for the game, it's fine. It plays exactly how you'd expect, and I haven't run into any major sound or slowdown issues yet. The 3D is very minimal though, and mainly used in the game's menus or to pop out the background overlay during play -- its effects during gameplay are almost non-existent, so don't assume this is a 3D Classic pack or anything. There are, however, new pieces of art and retro ads to peruse in the museum.
The Pokemon anime has been running for 19 seasons -- wow, I must have missed a few here and there. Series three of the X & Y saga is coming soon, and will be titled "XYZ," continuing the adventures in the Kalos region.
XYZ will premire on Cartoon Network on February 20, 2016 at 7:00 AM ET. It came out last October in Japan. At this point people have probably given up on a Pokemon Z, but since the latest generation was my favorite, I'm still holding out hope. Maybe Nintendo is waiting for a rainy day (when 3DS sales dip down the line).
Nintendo is starting to share some more details for Miitomo, and dumped a whole bunch of info on us this morning. In addition to opening up pre-registration and the Nintendo Account signup page, the publisher has also noted that if you create your account before the app arrives you'll get bonus Platinum Points.
Launching as a free app, you can customize your Mii, which can be generated by snapping a photo -- thankfully, you can easily import your existing Mii by way of a QR code. They can also link up to your Facebook and Twitter accounts, which will queue up questions for users (this sounds a lot like the social app Peach).
You'll also earn Miitomo coins, which are used to earn new outfits, and yes, of course, IAP (in-app purchases, the mobile version of microtransactions) are in. Nintendo boasts this feature by saying you can get "outlandish" clothes like a "hot dog costume." You and I have different versions of outlandish, Nintendo.
It's crazy that Club Nintendo announced its closure over a year ago. We had plenty of time to reminisce about our favorite rewards and spend our coins, but now, the new era is upon us. The "Nintendo Account" signup is now live. There's no functionality at the moment and Miitomo is still a few weeks away, but hey -- you can get points!
But what do you want out of this new system? Lots of physical rewards, including timed exclusive items? Nintendo promises digital content, merch, discount coupons, cloud saving (eventually) and even real life benefits (like retail or theme park discounts) but surely there's something else you're expecting from it. Do you need anything?
That Wii U Deluxe program was pretty sweet, so I hope the new reward program at least has parity with that. But with so many third parties pulling out of Nintendo's newest console ecosystem, that likely won't be the deciding factor between the Wii U and other platforms. All this NX anxiety is making me thirsty.
Strangely, it seems like deleting your account (people are fiddling with it of course) will note that you'll lose access to something called "Mission Status." My guess? Probably just email updates regarding Nintendo's current goals and accomplishments.
If you, like me, have been trying to play Street Fighter V at launch, you might well have noticed some bugs, issues and lacking features. Lounges failing to function, matchmaking stumbling around, lack of PS3 stick support natively on PC and more.
Thankfully, Capcom has a series of changes and fixes rolling out which will hopefully deal with a lot of these concerns.
The mobile version makes use of streaming technology, offering players a Netflix-style experience where the visual quality and responsiveness depend on the strength of your internet connection.
Lightning Returns employs a free-to-start scheme, but only gives players 30 minutes to enjoy the game before deciding whether to cough up ¥2,200 in order to keep playing.
The role-playing game originally launched in Japan back in November 2013, prior to its worldwide release in February 2014 and the recent PC port, which just dropped in December.
Square Enix and Broadmedia (the studio handling the streaming versions of these games) haven't announced plans to bring Lighting Returns to mobile platforms in the West. And considering none of other aforementioned titles have been released this way overseas, the prospect seems unlikely.

WEBZEN, a global developer and publisher of free-to-play games, announced the official release of “The Lost Temple”, expansion 3.2 of its triple-action hack ‘n’ slash MMORPG ELOA: Elite Lord of Alliance.
ELOA: Elite Lord of Alliance is an anime-inspired triple-action hack ‘n’ slash MMORPG, with classic action RPG elements and unique dynamic 3-combat-stance gameplay. With this latest update, players will experience a challenging new raid dungeon. “Lost Temple” is a ruined place, abandoned long ago and tangled with vines. Only players with a level 40 character (and 1020 Mettle or more) are allowed to enter the new dungeon, where new monsters and final bosses such as Mabo, Shed and Nemegaz will await challengers. Since all bosses have their own 1-hit fatal attack, avoiding annihilation will be the most important tactic in helping players defeat enemies and get Lv. 40 unique weapons for all classes.
Along with the new raid dungeon, the ELOA team is organising a dungeon hunter event from February 16th until the weekly maintenance on February 23rd, 2016 (UTC). The first three players (including all party members) of each server who submit their dungeon-clear screenshots of the Lost Temple in the event thread on the official ELOA forum, will get the Happy Phillos Uniform Collection: A costume that changes their characters' appearance. Additionally, the best screenshot from each sever will be selected by ELOA's GM (Game Master), and an attendance-check event will be held until the end of February.
Furthermore, expansion 3.2 will introduce many improvements to the game, including the chat system, cash shop and bug fixes.

Hyper Hippo, the fun-time developers of the wildly popular capitalism simulator AdVenture Capitalist, and Jagex Games Studio, creators of RuneScape, the multi-award winning fantasy online adventure RPG celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, today announced a partnership to create RuneScape: Idle Adventures. This multi-platform game will deliver a miniature RPG experience unlike any other, one that enables players to enjoy a RuneScape-themed adventure in just a few moments each day – anytime, anywhere.
Now in development at Hyper Hippo’s 25-strong studio in Kelowna, British Columbia, RuneScape: Idle Adventures is due to arrive this spring on Steam with mobile editions to follow. RuneScape: Idle Adventures marks the first time Jagex has worked with an external development partner to produce a new RuneScape-themed title.
In RuneScape: Idle Adventures, players take on the role of a magnificent new RuneScape hero who sets out to nurture the world through noble efforts, including fishing and growing cabbage. Players can look forward to the joys of RuneScape questing and monster fighting seen through a very different pair of eyes, interacting with beloved characters and dealing with mortal enemies. The game builds on the magic found in AdVenture Capitalist, where players with limited time enjoy the many benefits of playing a game that plays itself.
With RuneScape: Idle Adventures, Hyper Hippo brings its hugely popular game design style to RuneScape’s fantasy world. The team’s most notable title, AdVenture Capitalist – the game that puts the fun in hedge fund, is a long-reigning top game by player count on Steam and is featured regularly on mobile stores with over 10 million downloads to date.
“We’re huge fans of RuneScape and have great respect for its lore and heritage. By working closely together with the amazing storytellers at Jagex, we believe Runescape: Idle Adventures brings a depth to idle games that will be a game changer,” said Lance Priebe, CEO, at Hyper Hippo.
Phil Mansell, VP of RuneScape, at Jagex Games Studio added, “The emerging idle genre is starting to make a real impact, with novel gameplay experiences propelling idle games into the Steam and mobile top charts. We think there are lots more innovative experiences to come, especially when blending narrative and RPG aspects with idle gameplay. We love giving gamers the opportunity to have adventures with RuneScape in unexpected ways and idle gaming is an ideal way to deliver this. To take it there we needed to work with the best – the makers of the breakout success Adventure Capitalist. Our partnership with Hyper Hippo will make for a surprising mash-up of RuneScape’s lore, characters and realms and idle gaming.”
The collaboration between Jagex Games Studio and Hyper Hippo was announced as RuneScape celebrates its 15th year of creating adventures for its millions of players. RuneScape: Idle Adventures joins Jagex’s epic strategy card game, Chronicle: RuneScape Legends, currently in beta, as a further RuneScape-themed title that extends the world of RuneScape gaming.
RuneScape: Idle Adventures is heading to PC Steam this spring with mobile and tablet editions to follow. Gamers can follow the latest updates on the game by following @rsidleadv.
Turn based strategy games are usually slower paced, allowing for consummate strategy and planning. What happens, though, when all players turns go off at the same time? Atlas Reactor, published by Trion, takes that mentality and boosts it even further. I had a chance to sit down and talk with James Karras (Senior Producer), William Cook (Lead Designer), and Adam Lehr (QA) about their upcoming build for the game. What better way to display such a unique take than to watch a few matches being played?
The first thing the team showed off is their brand new map, situated on a rooftop and overlooking the titular Atlas Reactor. Where the game’s first map was open, this map was very compact and narrow. This allows for a different level of strategic play, important in a game where everything happens at once.
The Rooftop is a narrow laned map.
Visually, the map is quite striking, with water flowing from the walls and an impressive skyline in the distance. A lot of the action seems like it will take place around a central column on the map, but there is plenty of opportunity to utilize hallways on either side for surprise attacks or defensive walling purposes.
In addition to the new map, I was shown a couple of the new characters being introduced in the update. Rampart is the very definition of a tank. He's used to block the enemies from your more squishy teammates and damage opponents that attempt to attack him. His ultimate ability sets out a shield directly in front of him, which then allows him to deflect attacks made against him during the round.
The Gremlins, however, are a much different beast (pun intended, you know me). This team of miscreants loves to stay at range and lob painful, agonizing death at their opponents. Not only that, they've an incredible mobility as they zip along the map, knocking back foes that try to get close. They are a general nuisance to the opposition in a way only Gremlins can do.
New to this build are the addition of perks for each character. These modifiers to abilities can be completely game-changing to how a character plays. For instance, a character that's considered a tank character can suddenly become a damage dealing powerhouse. You have 10 points to spend on perks (at the moment) and each ability perk costs one to four points. This gives a huge level of customization for each character.
Rampart is imposing, while Gremlins are irritating.
As the team explained, certain perks will be better or worse depending on the map you're playing on. They're all very curious and want to see how players will adapt them to certain situations they didn't expect.
As Atlas Reactor continues to grow and develop, the development remains with the game remaining completely free-to-play. While skins can be unlocked through real world money, they can also be purchased with in-game currency. The core experience, however, will remain untouched for players to enjoy at no cost. Expect more maps, more characters, and various tweaks over time, too, as the developers work to craft a unique, balanced game.
Atlas Reactor is shaping up to be different than any other turn-based strategy MMO out there. The fast-paced action is a blessing for a genre that's typified by waiting, and the enhancements to the game in this upcoming update will add a huge variety of depth. Anyone interested in a unique take on strategy games is encouraged to sign up for testing at the Atlas Reactor page.

In RuneScape: Idle Adventures, players take on the role of a magnificent new RuneScape hero who sets out to nurture the world through noble efforts, including fishing and growing cabbage.
