Following the release of the new website, Closers Online has gained high popularity among players. The team is working on four additional characters that will be revealed during the open beta. So today let's check out the trailers of the game and the four main classes.
Black Deserts' developer PearlAbyss held a press conference, together with publisher Daum Communications, to announce the current progress of Black Deserts. Unlike western assassins, who have to come close to their target to finish their target, the eastern assassin from Conquer Online is very unique in their ability to kill at a distance. They attack by throwing deadly daggers from afar, killing their enemies before they know what happened. The Oriental Assassins are the empire's best kept secret, and have been disguising themselves as simple archers among the common folk for years, hunting down the empire's rebellions like Ninjas, Monks, Trojans...
Zenimax answered what the community asked. The second part of their "Ask Us Anything" (AUA) series for The Elder Scrolls Online's Daggerfall Covenant is available now. As much as the negativity online can eat away at your mind if you aren't careful, the Internet can also be an overwhelmingly positive place. Take, for instance, Reddit user fiscal_ posting about his five-year-old son Brady needing to have a liver transplant. The surgery was a success, and during his recovery at the Seattle Children's Hospital, Bungie stopped by bearing gifts.
The studio brought a signed get-well card, a t-shirt, and a sweet replica Carter helmet from Halo: Reach. Pictures do this story better justice than I ever could, so please, take a look for yourself.
In a separate post, fiscal_ writes that "My family can't thank Bungie enough. I know that they have had a huge impact on how well my son has been recovering after his surgery." He says that Brady "likes the idea of Halo more than playing Halo. His interest has transcended the games, he would rather battle it out with his Halo action figures, anyway. The Spartan storyline just gets his imagination going, it's wonderful."
Temple Run 2, which was just released four days ago, has already been download over 20 million times on the Apple App Store. Six million downloads occurred on the first day alone. The game became the number one free app within eight hours after release, and is currently sitting at the number two spot in the Top Grossing App category. Holy Batman that's impressive.
Here's some more crazy statistics: People have already played over 210 million sessions of Temple Run 2, which equals over 1,775 years of total gameplay time.
At this rate, Temple Run 2 could very well reach Temple Run numbers by the end of the year, especially once it hits other platforms. The original has been downloaded over 170 million times across the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon.
I guess you could say Temple Run has easily been a ... run away hit HAHAHAAHAHAHA!
You would be forgiven for thinking that the very public example of professional League of Legends player IWillDominate getting banned due to unruly behavior would have made people think twice before repeating history. Not so: PC Gamer has picked up on the banning of two more players who will now be unable to compete in the Championship Series for a period of one year.
Player enVision was reported in 29 percent of total matches -- a rate six times greater than the average European player -- and had a peak harassment score in the worst 0.06 percent of all European accounts this month. The second player, Linak, shared a similar peak harassment score and reportedly had behavior which "worsened in the past three months, even as his team advanced into the upcoming [LCS] Season Three EU Qualifier."
According to Riot Games, "Their toxic behavior in-game has led to a recent permanent ban of their accounts, and, for both players, this is not their first permaban. We're now taking action in order to help ensure that players seeking to compete in the LCS represent the principles of good sportsmanship and clean play."
Despite already suffering a delay to August, Ubisoft has promised that the PC version of Splinter Cell: Blacklist won't be suffering from the publisher's poor track record in same-day console/PC releases.
Speaking to Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Ubisoft says that Splinter Cell: Blacklist is still on track for an August 20 release on PC, the same day as the console version. With Far Cry 3 releasing same date and Assassin's Creed III only suffering a small delay, here's hoping Ubisoft is mending its ways.
Want one? Just leave a comment and I'll pick a random winner! The deadline is January 22, noonish!
While cleaning up our Dtoid HQ (an event that is the equivalent of a full moon) I came across one last crate of Destructoid Bobbleheads, which were sold out years ago. It was loosely modelled after Mr. Destructoid's appearance in Bomberman on the Xbox 360 and PS3 by a sculptor in the US (Thanks Hito!) and manufactured by Horizon Toy Group. They're about as heavy as a coffee cup full of gravy and sturdy enough to defend yourself against pigeons.
This seems to be part of a special batch that we ordered unpainted so that we could dip them in gold paint and award them as prizes, give them to friends who wanted to do custom paint jobs, use in blood rituals, and so on. Unintentionally, they look pretty cool as a minimalist art piece in a white room. Note: There *may* still be a full color one in this box, but I'm not sure. I'm opening them up to sign and number each one, and won't tell if I find one. Let's have an old fashioned blind box for hardcore collectors, shall we?
SOLD OUT!
The rest are on sale via Paypal at their original price of $20 with $4 domestic shipping within the US or $10 worldwide (I'll pay the difference, New Zealand dudes). I'll choose the winner once they sell out and are all packed and ready to ship.
There are only 25 of them on sale, so they may go quick. Good luck!
As someone who works from home, Nintendo's insistence that potential eShop game developers have dedicated office space has always rubbed me the wrong way. The quality of the individual title, not whether studios can pass another barrier to entry, should be what truly matters. Going off a tweet by Nintendo's Dan Adelman, the company might be changing the policy going forward.
Asked if the office requirement was still true on Twitter, Adelman responded by saying "Ask me again in a couple of weeks. ;)" And you just know something is up when the emoticons come out.
Based on some of the praise given to the Wii U eShop, I've gotten the sense that Nintendo was finally able to take a good, hard look in the mirror with respect to its treatment of independent developers as well as its broader strategy for digital distribution. One can only hope that the audience is there on both 3DS and Wii U to embrace these types of games.
This opening video for upcoming Japanese PSP game Battle Robot Spirits will either be a who's who of anime mecha or a mess of lasers and boxy metal heaps to you, depending on your interest level. I'm a huge f*cking nerd, so it does something for me. Over 20 mecha anime series are jumbled together for this brawler.
Anime fans will recognize Macross Frontier, Code Geass, Armored Core, and even Full Metal Panic? appearances in the line-up. You'll find a full list of included series below.
Too bad it's a PSP title. Vita would make more sense to me.

Deathmatch Made in Heaven, Max Payne 3'sfinal piece of downloadable content, will launch tomorrow in North America -- marking the fulfillment of the DLC schedule that Rockstar laid out several months ago.
As with nearly all previous packs, Deathmatch Made in Heaven will contain new weapons, items, and bursts for players to get their hands on; however, the pack also adds new co-op and competitive modes -- Dead Men Walking, Run & Stun, Marked Man, and Time Attack -- which Rockstar has fully detailed here.
This DLC will cost 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99 on PC and PlayStation Network. The pack won't launch in Europe until January 30, 2013.
But that's all I've got for these new Japanese PS3 models -- snazzy. The glossy Garnet Red and Azurite Blue CECH-4000B 'slim' PS3 systems will come with 250GB internal drives, just like their black and white predecessors do.
Sony Japan says that these two new models are a limited quantity release. They'll come with a matching DualShock controller, priced at ¥24,980 (roughly $250), when released on February 28.
I also hate vehemently. Only as*holes would use this word.
Today we honor the life of the late, great, Martin Luther King Jr. Besides giving many of us a day home from the office, we look back at a man that pioneered the African American Civil Rights Movement, and all helped changed human rights forever. Although things in the world are still far from perfect, it's amazing to look back at how much they've changed since the 60s.
As we look around at the awesome things floating around the Modern Method Network today, let's not forget all the people that gave everything to ensure all the freedoms we enjoy today. Let's also not give up our fight for what's right in the world, and everything we hold near and dear. Let's also make the best of a day off, and get some gaming time in!
While it hasn't been confirmed by Rockstar, the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V has appeared on online retailer Amazon's sites in the UK, France, and Germany. There's still no official word on a PC release for GTA V, despite a high-profile online petition asking the company to consider one.
As someone who uses Amazon.co.uk a fair bit, I know to take these type of listings with a grain of salt; previous listings have turned out to be put up by mistake and right now there's a PC version of Ubisoft's upcoming Watch Dogs on Amazon.co.uk despite it too not being confirmed for PC.
The second half of Spartan Ops season one has picked back up today. The episodic series continues the misadventures of the Spartan-IVs and Jul 'Mdama, the leader of the Covenant group, on the planet Requiem.
There's a nice bit of action in the new animated sequence that you can check out above. As for the actual game content, I haven't given it a spin yet but wondering what you all thought of the newest levels. 343 has supposedly put more effort into them so I'm hoping it's finally enough to bring me back into Halo 4'slittle experiment.

The company has also released a 30-second live-action teaser trailer, the full-length version of which will "be available soon." See it after the cut.
Riot has banned two more League of Legends pros for excessively adolescent behavior. Last December the company sent Christian "IWillDominate" Rivera packing, and now Illyas "enVision" Hartsema and Damien "Linak" Lorthios are joining him in exile.
Both players will be banned from both this weekend's LCS Season 3 Qualifier and LCS play next year according to the ruling on Riot's forums. enVision has been reported in a whopping 29% of his matches, which PC Gamer says is six times more than the average EU LoL player. He has also been punished 18 times, including two account bans, throughout his LoL history.
Linak boasts a 20% report rate and, like enVision, has a peak harassment score in the worst .06% of all EU accounts.
Change is good. Especially when it's lots of change... like in the $100 bill variety. Of course, I'm talking coinage there, not alterations in life. When life changes too much, it can really throw us for a loop. Though come to think of it, is that such a bad thing? Watching your favorite Stream Team members doing loopty loops would be pretty dang entertaining!
A few things in my life have been on the path to change lately -- some abrupt, some gradual. Even here at Massively we've had recent changes (new streamer and cool behind-the-scenes programming goodies FTW!). And Massively TV is all about change, bringing you new shows to enjoy each week! In that light, I'm willing to accept that the whole change-is-good mantra isn't all bad.
Want to experience a bit of change yourself? Then check out your favorite games played by your favorite streamers after the cut, and be sure to let us know who you'd like to see team up for more two-hour blocks of Massively mayhem.
When Jay Wilson announced that he was leaving his position as director of Diablo III, the forums were filled with responses. To the surprise of absolutely no one who has visited any forum in the history of the Internet, many of those responses were some variety of blaming Wilson for every issue the game might have or claiming that the game is clearly being abandoned completely. That didn't sit well with executive producer Rob Pardo, who took to the forums to tell players that if they want someone to blame, blame him.
Pardo explains that he's extremely proud of the game and that everyone remains dedicated to making it the best it can be. At the same time, he stresses that he was responsible for hiring and overseeing Wilson's work, and he takes full responsibility for the game as a whole. The odds of this actually defusing forum vitriol are still roughly nil, but it does ensure that at least in Pardo's eyes it will be directed in a more deserving direction, and it's a classy move no matter what you think of the game.
A gaggle of great actors have brought their vocal stylings to video game projects over the years, and one of my favorites when it comes to MMOs is Christopher Lee as evil overlord Lucan D'Lere in EverQuest II.
The voice of Saruman (and Count Dooku, and countless Hammer Horror villains) didn't have much of an impact on EQII's gameplay, but it was kind of a cool deal to have an actor of Lee's stature lend his talents to what was, in 2004, still a very under-the-radar segment of the gaming industry.
What about you, Massively readers? Who's your favorite MMO voice actor?
Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!
At the end of every week, we round up the best and most popular news stories, exclusive features, and insightful columns published on Massively and then present them all in one convenient place. If you missed a big MMO or WoW Insider story last week, you've come to the right post.
Only on Massively would readers try to turn an announcement about a game selling three million copies into proof of failure, but we love you guys anyway! Yes, this week, buy-to-play MMO Guild Wars 2 hit the three million mark, outlined PvP plans, and set an end-of-January date for its long-overdue guesting system. Finally, our GW2 expert Lis Cardy capped off the week by revisiting the never-ending endgame debate.

I don't normally jump out of my seat shouting "hell yes!" to an EVE Online dev blog, but this week's announcement on the direction of future expansions has me a little bit excited. In two somewhat dry and lengthy posts, Executive Producer Jon Lander and Senior Producer CCP Seagull detailed the approach they intend to take to ongoing development in 2013. Instead of announcing any big headline features or making vague promises, the developers looked back at the success of 2009's blockbuster Apocrypha expansion.
Apocrypha was hands-down the best expansion EVE has ever had, adding 2500 hidden solar systems accessible only through shifting unstable wormholes. We saw a renaissance of exploration, collaborative research, and colonisation efforts that defied EVE's war-like reputation, and moreover, we saw a rebirth of small-scale PvP. The magic sauce that made Apocrypha work was lateral design: Rather than add one massive vertical feature, the expansion offered a little something for everyone. Apocrypha was EVE at its best, and hearing that developers are going back to that style of expansion honestly makes me a little giddy!
In this week's EVE Evolved, I look at the future for EVE's expansions, why the Apocrypha model works, and why I'm optimistic for 2013 and beyond.
Above & Beyond Technologies has updated its website for The Repopulation with a new article focused on crafting. The dev team recently augmented the sci-fi sandbox's tradeskill mechanics with a new attribute system, so now is as good a time as any to get familiar with how the whole thing works.
There are no levels in The Repopulation, and as such there are no artificial restrictions handcuffing your capabilities as a crafter. There are over 70 independent skills, though, and some of them are devoted to crafting items, fittings, vehicles, stems, and more. The new attribute system basically allows for more flexibility in the game's fitting system. There's a lot more to it, of course, and we suggest you check out the full article for all the details.
