Mabinogi II: Arena Development Cancelled Posted: 06 Jan 2014 05:02 PM PST News from across the Pacific – NSquare (the joint team between Nexon and NCSoft) has ended development of Mabinogi II: Arena, apparently due to concerns with the title’s feasibility and player interest. NSquare will still be working on the recently announced MapleStory 2, and revisiting a Mabinogi sequel sometime in the future, according to MMOCulture. |
Sony Online Discusses Subscription Model Changes Posted: 06 Jan 2014 04:46 PM PST Over the New Year’s holiday, Sony Online Entertainment announced some changes for its game subscribers: starting on February 3, subscribers will receive one free item (of their choice) valued at 2000 Station Cash or less per month, instead of the regular monthly 500 SC stipend. This stirred up more than a little confusion and discussion with SOE regulars, so today, John Smedley hit Reddit with an impactful statement that not only explained the rationale of this change, but also hinted at the possibility of a network-wide subscription model. Smedley explained that the goal of the change allows players to pick up larger items on the marketplace, reduce SC accruals, and reduce the disparity between PC titles and console titles (the latter of which can’t use Station Cash). Smedley went on to sum up the cross-title subscription plan thusly:

Overview World Tour Fishing OverviewWorld Tour Fishing (WTF) is an exciting, upcoming Online Multiplayer Fishing Game (OMFG) by GamesCampus. With more than 1000 scientifically accurate species of fish to catch, World Tour Fishing allows anglers and sports fishers alike to experience the most famous fishing spots in Asia, Europe and North America. World Tour Fishing ScreenshotsWorld Tour Fishing Featured VideoComing soon… Full Review World Tour Fishing ReviewBy Remko Molenaar (Proxzor) OnRPG Journalist In the last couple of years I have seen more and more games being developed for this hobby that is even considered a sport among some people. I personally am not that big of a fan of fishing, even though a part of my family grew up using a fishing rod as their way of life; maybe that job aspect of it just made it not that appealing for me. However World Tour Fishing recently went into the closed beta testing phase selling fishing as a friend and not just food, so I took up the assignment to see what is so appealing about this 'sport.' Fishing is oversimplified often by the uninitiated. You do not simply throw in your bait and use a net to get the fish as they swim by. Instead we use a large rod, with a fishing line and a hook and we wait until one of these dumb creatures sees the shiny food or lure in the water and take a bite from it. Patience is a virtue, especially with fishing because it can take hours before a fish feels like taking a bite from your bait. Fortunately the fish in World Tour Fishing are a bit hungrier, but patience and precision timing still play a part in the fight. Before you head onto sea with your fishing boat and your expensive fishing rod, you start small, with a rod made from bamboo. In the tutorial you will be introduced as to why fishing can be seen as a relaxing sport, something you do on the weekend when you have absolutely nothing better to do, and you feel like sitting next to a lake with no one and nothing around you. I have actually fished a lot in my life when I was still young, so thanks to my forceful inclusion in family affairs I know enough to offer insight into this game's realism. And I was pleased to say that as soon as the tutorial began, I was seeing plenty of similarities present. You obviously need all the right tools to start fishing; if you do not have all the necessary items you will obviously have a harder time catching fish. Patience comes into play to compensate for this, or so I feared as I placed my virtual hands on my first bamboo rod. Since I have as much patience as a 10 year old kid walking through the gates of Disneyland at dawn, I figured this was going to be a rough introduction to the game. And so the waiting began. Thankfully World Tour Fishing isn't an ugly game, nor is it over the top anime themed like most of the fishing games currently on the market. WTF takes fishing seriously in an attempt to capture real fishers that don't have the time of day to drive 8 hours every weekend to get to their favorite watering hole. When you have swung your mouse around to start fishing, the waiting game starts. After a few teases and swirls in the water as fish contemplate your bait through some sort of RNG system, the dance of death begins. When the fish does become interested you will have a couple of ways to reel in the fish. The game made it a little arcady to make for a challenging and interesting experience that more core gamers will enjoy, but made sure not to lose out on realism in the process. When you have successfully 'engaged' the fish in mortal combat, the reeling stage begins. Your fishing rod does damage over time to the fish, and successful jerks and reels further damage the fish's stamina. Just don't get overzealous as doing so will also build tension on the line, eventually resulting in the line snapping if you don't manage your meter properly. Another form of realism comes in the way you use your fishing rod. If your fish moves to the left, you can try to counter the fish by swinging your rod in the opposite direction, dealing additional damage if timed correctly. When you have finally managed to bring in the fish, you will be able to keep it and release it. By keeping it you can throw it in your fishing tank or sell it for some money. The actual fish your dad struggled with when telling the wide armed tale of the one that got away. At first you will only catch fish that are a couple of centimeters long, not really worth keeping honestly, but a good source of revenue nonetheless for upgrading your tools. Keep at it long enough and eventually you can purchase your own boat and cruise around the lake in style. That's where this game begins to shine.
Conclusion: Good As you can see, fishing is not the greatest hobby I have ever done in my life, and even though I have done it a lot in my life, I still can't enjoy it as much as my family. That said, this game nails the parts of fishing that enthusiasts do enjoy a good deal better than anything else on the market. Meanwhile the UI and mini-game type controls are just enough to keep the gamer in us on the hook. Patience is a virtue, with literally everything that you do while fishing, but thankfully the game itself offers enough quality graphics and precise controls to be taken seriously as a modern MMO. WTF doesn't take long to learn and offers a relaxing and fun title that will be popular among collector's and time wasters alike. Posted: 06 Jan 2014 12:55 PM PST Bring the RF Online experience to your mobile device, and conquer the Novus galaxy! Publisher: CH Games Pros: +Easy to get into. +Plenty of end-game activity. Cons: -Like a reskinned version of Mafia Wars. -Not true to spirit of RF Online.
Overview RF Online Mobile OverviewRF Online is a free-to-play, sci-fi MMORPG based on the hit MMO, RF Online. As in RF Online, you will choose from three factions and three classes to start your adventure. Over 100 quests and over 1000 pieces of equipment are available for you to discover on your path to max level. Once you’re at the top, join in with competitive PvP or enter in raids with friends. RF Online Mobile ScreenshotsRF Online Mobile Featured VideoComing Soon… Full Review RF Online Mobile ReviewBy Vincent Haoson (Ojogo) I would have to admit that RF Online was one of my go to games ever since it came out in our side of the world. I loved that RF Online introduced the concept of being able to pilot a truly robot avatar in the form of the Acretians. Seeing the game die just this year in our area felt like a punch in the gut, even if the game has started to become dated compared side by side with new games that have been coming out. With that said, I pretty much expected that RF Online Mobile would make me reminisce the good old days, back when Chip warring was my thing and taking down Mechs and summons left and right were satisfying sights to behold.
Gameplay One of the biggest areas RF Online Mobile took liberty with is the gameplay. The MMORPG aspect was torn to shreds and was replaced with a mobile game-sque system much akin to text based, mobile RPGs. Unlike its PC version, RF Online Mobile's battle system is an "energy draining" enterprise where you get to "kill" NPCs 1v1. You can still earn experience points and level up much like any other RPG. So think of RF Online as Mafia Wars (remember when that game was popular?) skinned as RF Online. You still have the option of choosing between the three races but the job classes are gone. Your character still has skills that he/she can use. However since the game isn't a 3D MMORPG anymore, you are only allowed to equip learned and upgraded skills pre-battle and hope to whatever deity you put your faith on that it'll connect during battle phase.
Features CH Games Co. retained a lot of gameplay features that were exclusively for RF Online. However the problem is that a lot of them were stripped down to fit the game's "different look" into the world of Novus. Player progression is done through the single player missions; on the other hand, multiplayer features are relegated into PvP, mine wars and just plain wars. The game tries its best to keep your attention by providing various avenues to make you come back into the game.
Chip wars has been changed to mine wars and is turned into a numbers/population game instead of what it was before, an all-out battle between the three races. However, instead of actually duking it out like in the MMORPG version, you are relegated in scrounging up players to help out in the battles. While it's normally a given that most often than not, events like this are reliant on the player population, at least in the MMORPG version, you still have given that sliver of hope that you can win said wars, but in RF Online mobile, since it's basically a numbers/stats game, you end up just giving up on even participating.
PvP on the other hand, while is still present, is a boring foray into playing against other players. Wars meanwhile are no different, thus dashing more hopes for the game.
Verdict: Poor Before I started playing RF Online Mobile, I expected it to be similar to Sega's Demon Tribes. I hoped that the mobile version retained some semblance of ANY MMORPG elements since there have been various MMORPG games out on the mobile.
But no, I was welcomed by a stripped down RF Online experience. It's insulting to my memory of RF Online, and in this day and age where you can bring RF Online, or at least some of it into the mobile platform. But nooooo, what I had to endure was a flash based game that's all too similar to numerous half-baked mobile games out there. Seeing RF Online stripped down to this ugly game is painful and sad. RF Online Mobile kill the whole idea of playing RF Online in the mobile platform. If they just took the MMORPG medium and streamlined it to the mobile platform I won't be this nasty with the game, but, since this is what it is now, I just can't stop myself from hating the game.
Would I recommend this game? Well if you haven't been reading at least the first three paragraphs of the conclusion, then I'd say no, not in a million years would I recommend RF Online Mobile to anyone (well except for my enemies since I'd like them to waste their time). Any person who has played and loved RF Online should not even start playing this game. Don't even touch it, even with a ten foot pole. It's that bad. I'd rather suggest you to find yourself a nice, stable private server if you don't want to join the international servers (and that RF Online in your country is officially dead like ours).
There would've been better ways on how the game was treated, but it clearly wasn't done here. So move along now and don't look back at this game ever again. Videos RF Online Mobile VideosComing Soon… System Requirements RF Online Mobile System RequirementsComing Soon… |

Deadbreed: Hardcore MOBA hits Steam Greenlight Posted: 06 Jan 2014 09:45 AM PST A group of Swedish game developer veterans (formerly known for their development of “Just Cause” from Avalanche Studios) has come together to make Deadbreed — a darker hardcore MOBA with unprecedented hero customizability and RPG gameplay features. This high-end next generation MOBA is the first release from the Swedish stealth startup. "I wanted to play a MOBA where I could totally customize how my hero looked and, more importantly played, but I couldn't find one," explains Stefan Ljungqvist, developer at the Stockholm based studio. While giving the player complete freedom over character customization, which includes full control over character appearances, Sentinel battles where players can choose their endgame boss fight and extra features like PvP quests, Deadbreed sets itself from pack by offering a ton of unique features never before attempted in the genre. "Talking to friends, I realized I wasn't the only one wanting this, so we decided to make it. Also, this was our chance to make a darker themed MOBA for hardcore gamers like ourselves and bring in some additional RPG gameplay features." The response from Deadbreed's weeks old Steam Greenlight campaign and community feedback indicate that many gamers seem to agree. After a decade of making triple A action console games, it feels good to return to your roots," continues Stefan, who also has a background as a pen-and-paper RPG and miniatures games designer. "It feels great to make monsters again!" Deadbreed is currently accepting signups for its upcoming closed Beta and is available for PC. For more information, visit: http://www.deadbreed.com/ |

Dark Frenzy: Establish Your Name in Inferno Legend Posted: 02 Jan 2014 10:47 AM PST Gamebox’s downloadable MMORPG Inferno Legend has recently released a major update with the brand new feature of “Dark Tournament”. Dark Tournament is a new PvP feature that enables players to see their true strength comparing with others. Free Mode & Class Mode Free Mode is even more competitive. It is like Class Mode but with players of all classes on the same platform. And at the end of it, there will be only one rank so that players can see their stance in their server. Prayers & Outbursts To use Prayer, players need to spend a certain amount of Gold. Prayers will give your team a rating boost throughout the entire tournament. And Outburst is free with a 30% rating boost for your team for the upcoming round. However, Outburst can only be used 3 times in a tournament, so it will be a very strategic decision in which rounds Outburst should be used for players to make depending on how far they expect their team would go into the tournament. With this new Dark Tournament feature and the existing Arena function, Inferno Legend PvP system is pretty complete. Players now have multiple choices to challenge each other and see their standings in this game. This will certainly bring a strong sense of achievement. |
