World of Warcraft players who want to get a jump on trying out all the big changes coming with the v5.2 patch will want to head to the public test realm (PTR) to see it firsthand now that it's officially live. The patch brings The Isle of the Thunder King quest hub, a new raid and some pretty meaty changes to most of the game's classes.

Seduce Me won't be releasing on Steam, but perhaps it's not all bad. When the self-described "erotic strategy game" was taken down from Steam Greenlight, a bunch of outlets covered the removal, calling attention to a title we might have otherwise overlooked. It is available now for PC/Mac directly from No Reply Games, should you be in the market for this sort of thing.
The developers behind Seduce Me, Andrejs Skuja and Miriam Bellard, both used to work at Killzone maker Guerrilla Games. Just goes to show that you can't be too quick to judge based on first impressions. While I have no personal interest in this game, I'm glad to see the pair branch out to genuinely work on a genre that isn't exactly known for its excellence.
Taking an approach to console gaming not unlike what the OUYA is hoping to do, the GameStick is a small-scale, Android-based console that plugs into your television by way of HDMI. Creator PlayJam is aiming for $100,000 in pledges on Kickstarter to finish development of the device, more than half of which has already been raised on the campaign's first day.
The system itself is small enough to fit within its controller and has an Amlogic 8726-MX processor, 1GB DDR 3 / 8GB Flash, and runs Android Jelly Bean. While the price sounds about right at $79 for both the controller and console, what about the software support?
"Going forward, we will be calling on the more than 250 developers we already work with on TV to join those that have already committed to GameStick plus anyone else as excited as we are by this opportunity," writes PlayJam. If these new consoles can garner more quality developer interest in Android, that wouldn't be a bad thing at all.
If you were perhaps disappointed by Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon and the tweaks made to this very particular series, the embedded footage of Earth Defense Force 2025 will be a pleasant sight indeed. For the record, I dug Insect Armageddon, and liked that it gave us a slight break between 2017 and 2025. But yes -- this is some classic EDF right here.
There's actually quite a bit going on in the trailer, from a rundown of various vehicles, including a mech with a ridiculous (and almost endearing) walking animation, to some droppable items that will hopefully be useful enough to warrant continued use. The same goes for all of the vehicles, for that matter. Please don't blow up before I can even take off!
At this point, I don't really need to see any more of EDF 2025. I'm all set over here. We would appreciate having a more exact release date, however.
The biggest achievement in free simulation obstacle course games featuring Xbox Live Avatars, Doritos Crash Course, has received its very own downloadable content today.Doritos Crash Course City Lightsadds two new areas (London and Las Vegas), Avatar awards, new Achievements, and easy alternatives to the Japan levels.
I'm not ashamed to admit how much Crash Course I've played. I beat all the levels about three or four times. Possibly five. No shame. Now, I'm going to spend the 160 Microsoft Points and please Overlord Keighley by beating all ten new levels tonight, twice. Hopefully it can tide me over until Crash Course 2.
Just look at those calendars, 2013. Isn't it such a futuristic sounding number? I guess so many sci-fi things I love always had the dates of 2012, making 2013 sound so far away. Along with a snazzy new date stamp comes the annual list of personal resolutions we make, and potentially break for ourselves.
Personally, I'm hoping to party just a bit less, and get more actually gaming done. It was a year of collecting a lot of titles I never really settled down with. Time to make it happen. Make sure you check out all the posts this week to take a fond look back at the year that was 2012! So, what was your resolution?
As someone who would really like to see the space-combat genre revitalized, it's been neat to see people like Chris Roberts of Star Citizenand now David Braben of Elite: Dangerousfind success on Kickstarter. If anyone can pave the way for other studios to deliver those kinds of experiences again on a grand, modern scale, it's probably these guys.
With around two days left before the campaign ends, Elite: Dangerous has passed its pledge goal of £1,250,000. In these finals hours, the push will be made to reach £1.4 million for a Mac version -- scheduled to launch approximately three months after the game hits Windows, if achieved -- and £1.5 million for an additional 10 playable ships.
The latter stretch goal is more substantial than it might initially seem, since the core game as of right now includes 15 ships. The only bad thing about these Kickstarter campaigns is that the two titles won't be releasing anytime soon. We're so ready, and have been for a while now.
[Mash Tactics airs Monday through Friday at 4p.m. Pacific on Dtoid.TV. Watch King Foom play a variety of games, each day with its own theme. With a heavy focus on community and viewer interaction, you can be as much a part of the show as anything else.]
A while back while gushing about The Walking Dead, I promised to do a live playthrough of all five episodes in one sitting, once they were all released. Well, the whole story has been out for over a month now, and somehow, I haven't even played episode five yet. Tonight, I shall wait no longer. Not only to see this story come together at last, but to see it all happen in one cohesive session.
So please, come by and join us this evening on Mash Tactics as we rock every single episode of this fantastic adventure, back to back, until its conclusion. If that wasn't enough, to make things bit more interesting, I've decided to leave every decision in the game up to you the viewers. Dig in, and get comfy, because it's going to be a long night.
A year ago, chiptune artist C-jeff produced a very spiffy chip album entitled Preschtale. The seven-track release was inspired by several progressive rock bands, and the result was very "space-y," for lack of a better word.
The album has inspired a bunch of other musicians in turn in the form of Preschtale Variations. A much more expansive 16 tracks in length, Preschtale Variations features many guests reworking C-jeff's original material in a variety of styles like acoustic and electronica. You might even recognize some of the contributors, which include Shnabubula and Metroid Metal's Stemage.
You can download the album for free, so get to it!
After a sizable wait, Retro City Rampagehas made its Xbox Live Arcade debut. While this will be neither the first nor last version of the game, it is nice to know that it costs 800 Microsoft Points ($10) instead of launching at the previously announced price point of 1200 MS Points.
As stated before, the extra month of development time for RCR on XBLA means a more polished experience out of the gate. Designer Brian Provinciano says that the remaining versions (namely, WiiWare) will be arriving sometime this month. And maybe, just maybe, he can finally sleep.
It's a little late, but here's a sweet Christmas movie about Sonic and his insufferable friends.
Sonic visits home for the holidays, and everyone sits around swapping popular Yuletide tales with Sega characters inserted. Even if it's not laugh-out-loud funny, it's charming and adorable in the way Brawl in the Family always seems to be.
"Another Christmas with Sonic" was created by aspiring voice actor Steven Page and artist RianaLD. It's a follow-up to a short film they collaborated on last year, which I have embedded after the jump. Watch and be merry!
I will never be able to answer the question "What's your first love: music or videogames?" So, I'm always happy when the two combine to make something rad. Such is the case with Tumblr Music History in GIFs.
Joshua Carrafa recreates seminal album covers and music events (from 1964 to current day) through pixel art inspired by early Sierra adventure games. Each animated image is complemented by a succinct description that will help your brains learn about all the important indie rock moments that appear on the SAT. From The Beatles to Vampire Weekend, the blog covers a lot of noteworthy bands with crude yet charming GIFs.
If you had told me that Legends of Chima was already a successful LEGO property, I would have believed you. But it's not! Not yet, anyway. Described as a "fantasy adventure set in land inhabited by different magical animal tribes," this newly announced product line will be getting three separate tie-in games this year. Seems like a good fit, actually.
First up is LEGO Legends of Chima: Speedorz, a racing mini-game from 4T2 and TT Games that will be available on LEGO.com today and iOS tomorrow. From there, TT Games has a 3DS and PlayStation Vita title called Laval's Journey, due out this summer and on regular old DS in autumn. This will presumably be more in line with the studio's prior work.
Finally, there's LEGO Legends of Chima Online, a free-to-play "online world" in development at WB Games Montréal. Also releasing in autumn 2013, this game will allow players to build their own kingdom within Chima. Anyone else getting a Lion-O vibe from that character?
