One year after the debut of amiibo, here are the ones that are rare Posted: 22 Nov 2015 09:00 AM PST With multiple waves of restocks, many shortages in the great amiibo war of 2015 have been resolved. But I decided to do some research today to try to track down the toughest amiibo to find, and I've come up with a brief list of the figures that are still fairly rare. It seems as if most of these are due to a complete lack of a reprint, most notably in the case of Palutena, an Amazon exclusive. Note that these prices are based on an average for import figures and domestic (US) alike. Anything with an average price of $20 or above is on the list.
Hot Deal: PlayStation TV on sale for $19.99 Posted: 22 Nov 2015 07:00 AM PST In case you haven't picked up a PlayStation Vita yet, now is a good time to (sort of) pick one up on the cheap. Best Buy is currently offering PlayStation TV, the Vita's microconsole variant, for $19.99. Of course, that attractive price doesn't include the hidden cost of Sony's proprietary memory cards, and you'll also need a television and a DualShock controller, but, even still, the barrier to entry here is pretty low. If there are Vita games you've been jonesing to play, maybe check this out. PlayStation TV [Best Buy via NeoGAF]

Take a look at the full cast of Indivisible's guest characters Posted: 22 Nov 2015 05:00 AM PST Indivisible is currently in crowdfunding overtime, with over a million dollars raised and 13 days left in its extended Indigogo campaign. The game still has about $400,000 left to raise in that time, so it's anyone's guess if it will get there or not. If the campaign isn't quite where it needs to be in its final days, it would be smart for a big publisher like Sony to swoop in and make up the difference in exchange for some limited exclusivity. Not only would the game look great on any list of console exclusives, it would also be great PR to save an underdog developer (and its legions of fans) from painful disappointment. Indivisible's finely curated list of guest characters to up it's potential capacity to be a marquee title on next year's E3 stage. As Playstation has made their relationship with indies a selling point for the past few shows, it would fall right in like with their recent marketing strategies to prominently display popular indie icons like Shovel Knight, Juan, Zackasaurus, and now Battle Chasers' Callebretto at their booth. The game even has the word "indie" implanted in its name, for gosh sakes. Of course, it would be best if the game manged to get its funding on its own, but if it ends up needing a publisher, it seems like Sony would be a perfect fit.
Just Cause 3 and Dragon Quest Heroes 28% off for PC/Steam Posted: 22 Nov 2015 04:30 AM PST With all the Battlefront and Fallout 4 news from the last few weeks it feels like the hype-train really never left the station. But in the deal train makes go on as December titles are now on the horizon. Square Enix's Just Cause 3 is out on December 1st, the cheapest PC deal is at GMG where after coupon they've cut the price 28% to only $43.20 (key from Square Enix). Console wise there's bonuses to consider: a $15 eGift Card from Dell Home, $10 Xbox Gift code from Microsoft, or an in-game weapon bonus at GameStop. This week's biggest release was of course Star Wars: Battlefront, and the deals are still live on it. Now that the game has released worldwide GMG is finally delivering keys and at a $10 discount to $49.99. The same $10 discount can also be had on console from Antonline via eBay. A nice surprise deal this weekend from Walmart includes cheap priced 2DS for $79 and a first discount we've seen on the New 3DS Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer bundle. Walmart is also throwing in an Ematic accessory kit for free, which comes with carrying case, USB charger and other helpful trinkets - all for only $179 (this is the non-XL New 3DS, just to be clear).
Rumor: Bravely Second swaps Native American headdress for cowboy hat Posted: 22 Nov 2015 03:00 AM PST Destructoid just received a heated news tip in our tips inbox stating "...I learned that Square Enix has replaced a Native American class called Tomahawk with Cowboy class in Bravely Second's western version. I find this very untasteful considering how natives were genocided and their culture was almost completely destroyed in the US. I hope you can spread the news and hopefully Square Enix removes cowboy pandering." The email included the image seen above, which has the file name "cultural genocide". A little digging revealed that the cowboy hat image was reportedly spotted on a "Spanish store", and was later re-posted on an image sharing site with the hashtag "#I AM LAUGHING A LOT I DIDNT NOTICE IT AT ALL". While I wouldn't be surprised if all this is just fake drama drummed up by bored internet children, it's also not out of the realm of possibility for Nintendo to make this kind of localization change. Many publishers find it safer to remove any potentially offensive/stereotyping content from a game when bringing it overseas, and what with the Washington Redskins name change controversy still running hot in some circles, I could imagine how Nintendo might run from stirring those waters. Sadly, this fear of offending minorities is one of the reasons that so many minority characters in games are cut, or never planned to begin with. The only way to be sure you won't offend anyone is to not say anything at all. The downside is, that's also a sure fire way to be a lot more boring and noninclusive.
Mark Cuban: League of Legends is 'a real sport' Posted: 22 Nov 2015 02:00 AM PST If you're like me, you know the name and face of Mark Cuban, but you probably don't know a whole lot about him. I put on my detective coat and hat and did some digging (read: Wikipedia) and found that he is a businessman, investor, film producer, author, television personality and philanthropist that owns the NBA's Dallas Mavericks and Magnolia pictures. Cuban also appears on reality TV show Shark Tank as an investor. Cuban participated in a charity event yesterday where he played League of Legends against the CEO of Intel, Brian Krzanich. Prior to the match, Cuban was interviewed by Kristine Leahy and had some choice words for her co-host on The Herd, Colin Cowherd. Cowherd had previously thrown a fit over eSports getting air time on sports networks. businessman, investor, film producer, author, television personality and philanthropist
The hunt is on for the Lottie amiibo, here is what I found Posted: 22 Nov 2015 12:00 AM PST The amiibo season this year is nearly over. Pending the release of the Shovel Knight figure in "Holiday 2015" (which could very easily be pushed), Lottie is the last known toy to be released in 2015, as a Target exclusive. As I've said many times I haven't waited outside of a store in months, but since I had the chance to go hunting with a good friend of mine again, I decided to give hunting Lottie a shot. As it turns out, we were over-prepared. Pulling up to the Target 20 minutes before opening, there was no one in line -- not even people waiting in their cars. A quick food pitstop later and we were walking up to the doors five minutes before, as the first people in line. One person came to join us. Most stores are reportedly carrying "at least" 50 Lottie figures (mine had 52), so you should be good if you get there at opening no matter what, and then some. There's plenty of ways to speculate as to how Lottie is so abundant. It stands to reason that the Animal Crossing line simply isn't as popular in the US, as every figure is still readily available. Plus, Lottie is probably one of the least appealing characters in the entire lineup as it is, and just debuted with Happy Home Designer. You can also account for the fact that the amiibo craze has died down quite a bit -- a good number of my hardcore hunting friends have abandoned the hobby (many of them because of the Wave 4 debacle), and the "usual suspects" I see during some of my hunts were nowhere to be found today. However you slice it, everyone in other timezones should be more than fine rolling up to your local Target at opening. Just in case, you can check Lottie's DCPI number (207-03-4011) in Brickseek, which I've found to be fairly accurate. As of now, I have every amiibo figure released to date (I don't do the cards), including the Dark Skylander variants, all imports that aren't out in the US, and Mega Yoshi, partially due to some great friends and readers looking out for me. It's been a wild one year ride. For a list of what's to come, check out this page.
