Contest - The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut Posted: 15 Nov 2015 02:00 PM PST Thanks to the amazingly generous folks at NeocoreGames we have 20 copies of the The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut to giveaway! What is Van Helsing: Final Cut? It's an ARPG that has all three previous episodes of the series put together, and told as one continuous story. It also features a new endgame mode, full controller support, six different classes, your own hideout, the amazing Lady Katrina (I do enjoy her wit), randomly generated scenario maps, and a new level cap of 100 among lots of other little improvements. I really enjoyed the first game myself and am quite excited to dig into the Final Cut. What do you have to do to win a copy? Tell us what mythological beast you'd most want to hunt down/slay and how you'd do it. 10 of the best comments will be chosen, along with 10 random winners. Contest ends 11/22/15 @ 11:59pm PST - Good Luck!
Quick tips for making friends in Yo-Kai Watch Posted: 15 Nov 2015 07:30 AM PST Yo-Kai Watch recently released in the west earlier this month. I've been having a blast with it, but I've also been having some difficulties as well. So far I haven't been able to find any good guides to help walk me through some of the game's more confusing aspects, such as befriending Yo-Kai. It seems to be largely luck-based, as Yo-Kai will randomly come up to the player after a battle and ask to be friends. This can be a bit frustrating, especially when a side quest requires a specific Yo-Kai or when you come across that one Yo-Kai that you just have to have in your party. I found myself battling about 50 or so Noways before one of them finally decided to join me, which is when I decided there must be an easier way. Thankfully, there are a few methods which can be used to increase your chances of making friends in Yo-Kai Watch.
Star Wars Battlefront deals plus free Jade Empire from Origin Posted: 15 Nov 2015 06:30 AM PST As Star Wars Battlefront approaches the deals are actually drying up. We've seen the PC digital version go for as much as 25% off, but now the best deal for PC is a measly 17% off at DLGamer dropping the price from $60 to only $49.79. Still beats full price but this might not tip the balance for those on the fence. On console, you get the usual pre-order incentives: at Microsoft Store you can get a $10 Gift Card use-able on Xbox Live; Best Buy is offering $10 in "My Best Buy Rewards" and is 20% off for GCU members; last deal available is Dell Home's $25 eGift Card bonus for the Deluxe Edition for the console version of Battlefront. Finally, the last noteworthy deal is the newly minted "On the House" deal from Origin. This month it has the very excellent Jade Empire Special Edition up for grabs, completely free. No need for any credit card info while you checkout, just add to cart, click okay, and the game will be added to your library and yours to own forever. A good game to pick up for action-RPG fans. Update: Looks like Jade Empire is temporary gone as a freebie or the offer went live early accidentally. Might want to check back on it later.
Van Helsing's Final Cut is the most 'Incredible' yet Posted: 15 Nov 2015 05:30 AM PST Recently, NeocoreGames released The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut on Steam, a compilation of the three games in the series. Past titles have varied in quality; the first game was good but buggy, the second was a solid step up, and the final game took several steps back in design. While the inner workings of the games varied throughout the series, Final Cut keeps everything standard all throughout. Seeing as the last one was easily the worst of the three, this had me quite nervous. Thankfully, the developers took some great steps with the direction of Final Cut, easily making it the best way to play the trilogy.
Sup Holmes shakes tongues with Beardo Games Posted: 15 Nov 2015 05:00 AM PST [Sup Holmes is a weekly talk show for people that make great videogames. It airs live every Sunday at 4pm EST on YouTube, and can be found in Podcast form on Libsyn and iTunes.] [Update: Show's over everybody! Thanks to Kate and Chris for being on the show! What an unexpected treat to talk about Nintendo Badge Center, the first Resident Evil, and being disgusted and amused with the human race with the folks who created a game about tongue kissing in a graveyard. The rerun should be up soon. In the meantime, here's Youtube personality LonnieDos playing their game. He seems nice.] Today on Sup Holmes we're happy to welcome Kate Thomas and Chris Harback of Beardo Games to the program. Kate and Chris are on the cusp of completing Smooth Operator, a game about tongue kissing. I am amused and troubled by what they have done. Watch the game's trailer while listening to this Sade favorite to see what I mean. Is this how aliens see us when we are kissing? Why does God have so many arms? Those are just a few of the questions I'll be asking the duo today at 2:40 pm. We hope to see you there! Please ask us some questions. Nothing is real. Everything is permitted.
Transistor now available on the Apple TV Posted: 15 Nov 2015 04:30 AM PST The Apple TV hasn't exactly set the world of gaming on fire, but with the recent release of Transistor to the platform, I'm officially more interested in it than ever. Like 1% interested, but still. This version of the game has been designed to be played with the Siri remote and is a universal purchase with other iOS versions of the game. So if you already own it for your iPhone or iPad, you'll get this version for free (saved game data will even carry over between devices). Frankly, I think Transistor was a gem of a game and would encourage people to play it anyway they can. More important than any of that though, the Apple TV release was accompanied by a new bonus track from the soundtrack! More than a year since its original release, I'm still listening to Transistor's soundtrack on a regular basis. Its one of my favorite albums to put on for long drives or when I just want to relax, so I'll welcome more of it with open arms.
People too busy playing Fallout 4 at launch to visit Pornhub Posted: 15 Nov 2015 03:30 AM PST Well, this is awkward. Pornhub, a site that I'm sure many of you are completely unaware of but happens to be one of the most popular sources of adult entertainment on the internet, took a noticeable hit to their traffic on the day of Fallout 4's release. During peak gaming hours, Pornhub saw a 10% drop from their usual traffic. Apparently there is only one thing red blooded men and women love more than getting their (personal) freak on, and that's trudging through an atomic wasteland. Who knew? Slightly more uncomfortably, Pornhub has broken down the hour by hour stats for November 10 to weave a narrative of naughty habits (SFW link). Looking at slight rises in their data compared to the large drops throughout the day, they can take an educated guess of when people were “busying” themselves waiting for the game to download, and when players collectively took a break to have a Mr. Handy moment of their own. And you thought statistics was a waste of a college credit didn't you? Thanks to community superfriend and known pervert, Dreamweaver, for sending this tip in, because of course he would.
The hunt is on for the Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo, here is what I found Posted: 15 Nov 2015 01:00 AM PST Ever since July, I haven't waited in line for an amiibo launch. Today it would be my undoing it seems, as I missed out on the Mega Yarn Yoshi figure today at Toys"R"Us. Why did I go? My wife loves Yoshi, and hell, the thing is basically a stuffed animal. At my local store, they had 19 in stock. I walked up to the doors five minutes before it opened, and was 23rd in line. According to multiple sources from readers and my amiibo travels, nearly every store on the east coast is the same. If you didn't wait in line roughly an hour before the store opened, you missed out. As a reminder, this is indeed a Toys"R"Us exclusive, and employees could not provide me with a date of restock, if there even will be a restock. Note that even a month ago on their official Twitter account, they noted that "quantities [are] extremely limited!" Right now, east coast US scalpers are placing the starting rounds of acquisition at roughly $100. Other territories won't get the figure until later in the month (or December) and re-sellers are valuing their pre-orders at around $70. It retails for $40 in the US. Plan accordingly!
Twilight Princess HD + amiibo still available at GameStop for pre-order Posted: 14 Nov 2015 04:00 PM PST Announced on Thursday's Nintendo Direct, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD is heading to the Wii U next spring. While the package with the Wolf Link amiibo figure quickly went up for pre-order on Amazon and Best Buy, it too went "out of stock" just as fast, with retailers hitting their available quantity limit. In the mist of all this, GameStop is still chugging along, as pre-orders for Twilight Princess HD + amiibo are still in stock. If you're picking up a copy, make sure you use promo code SAVER during checkout to waive the $3.99 shipping and handling fee. Of course, you can also pre-order at your local GameStop for an eventual pick up next spring. Will GameStop eventually "run out of stock" and package these with some other amiibos for a higher price tag? Tune in next quarter for the latest result.
