Posted: 21 Feb 2015 12:00 PM PST

The Destructoid community is a wonderful, diverse bunch, and boy do you people ever put out some awesome content. Whether you're writing thoughtful Cblogs, having engaging discussions in our Forums, or just hanging out in the front page comments, you all contribute so much to this place, and we literally would not be here without each and every one of you!

One facet of the community that goes sadly under-represented is the amazing work put out by our community podcasters. With this post, I'm hoping to change that! Below are just a few of our community's best and brightest podcast teams, and I want to add to it! For info on how you can get your own podcast listed, check out the bottom of the post.

I'd also like to thank Nanashi for his hard work putting together the first ever monthly recap of all the great community podcasts in our Cblogs. Keep up the great work!

Experience Points .05: Demon's Souls

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 11:00 AM PST

Experience Points is a series in which I highlight some of the most memorable things about a particular game. These can include anything from a specific scene or moment, a character, a weapon or item, a level or location, a part of the soundtrack, a gameplay mechanic, a line of dialogue, or anything else about the game that is particularly noteworthy and/or awesome.

This series will no doubt contain spoilers for the games being discussed, so keep that in mind if you plan on playing the game for the first time.

This entry is all about Demon's Souls. Feel free to share some of your own favorite things about the game in the comments!

Class action lawsuit filed against NVIDIA over GTX 970 card

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 09:15 AM PST

For those unfamiliar with the plight of the PC master race, there has been an ongoing debacle surrounding NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 970 video card. Users have been complaining that the advertised performance hasn't been up to snuff.

As is the case when these type of issues arise, a class-action lawsuit has been filed in California claiming that the company misled customers about the capabilities of its GTX 970. Named in the suit were NVIDIA and Giga-Byte Technology.

The suit says that NVIDIA "engaged in a scheme to mislead consumers nationwide about the characteristics, qualities and benefits of the GTX 970 by stating that the GTX 970 provides a true 4GB of VRAM, 64 ROPs, and 2048 KB of L2 cache capacity, when in fact it does not."

Good for the people that filed this suit. If you're spending upwards of $300+ for a video card, then you certainly should expect it to perform as advertised.

Kanye West to bless all the world with his videogame talents

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 07:30 AM PST

Love him or hate him, you can't knock the Kanye West hustle. After conquering the music game and the fashion game, Yeezy is ready to bless all gamers with his talents in digital form. But what will a Kanye West game be about you ask?

Yeezy didn't say much, but it's not some Kim Kardashian butt implant RPG. It's going to be about Kanye's mother going through the gates of heaven and is meant to co-exist with the song Only One. In an interview with Power 105's Breakfast Club (start at the 55:58 mark), West said this early game-of-the-year contender will have players trying to get momma West to the highest gates of heaven "by holding her to the light."

Apparently the game has been in development for six months. In all seriousness, it will probably be some mobile game garbage that makes millions.

Under $20 Resident Evil Revelations 2 and BF4 Premium

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 05:00 AM PST

Couple of decent deals this weekend with next week's Resident Evil Revelations 2 Complete Season pricing in at only $19.50 for the PC (its also the last call on the pre-order bonus of the raid mode map pack). The even-more-complete version of the game is $31.50 by using the same discount at GMG.

GamersGate's 10th Anniversary sale continues, though it should have ended earlier this week. Now kicked into "Extended" mode, they're offering $18 Battlefield 4 and $22.50 Metro Redux among other discount.

Last on the docket includes two game card deals for cheap: grab basically 20% off anything on PSN as PayPal is selling a $50 PSN card for only $40; meanwhile NewEgg via eBay has a $35.99 12 months Xbox Live Gold membership.

Pokémon's Slowpoke is a pretty relatable little guy

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 04:00 AM PST

Have you ever woken up after an evening of questionable decisions and wrestled with what to do with the day? I have. Have you ever laid in bed, rays of sunlight torturing you through the shutters, as you wonder why that woman at the bar last night told you she accidentally killed a baby goat with a penicillin overdose? Yeah, me too. This is Slowpoke's daily struggle. Poor little guy.

Backers of crowdfunded Delta Six controller hit by friendly fire

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 03:00 AM PST

The Delta Six controller is the latest entry in my inadvertent series on crowdfunding drama. Hot on the heels of news that The Stomping Land was abandoned by its development team, details have emerged of project mismanagement, unfulfilled orders, and lack of communication between Kotkin Enterprises and Kickstarter backers.

The Delta Six is a motion controller designed to enhance the first-person shooter experience by duplicating the look and feel of a real assault rifle. It received a lot of media coverage and brought in almost double its $100,000 goal via Kickstarter in May 2013. Backers were told that the controller would ship in December 2013, with the first shipments going to those who pledged at the $500 tier and trickling down as units came off the line.

It's been out a day and this Sonic amiibo is the biggest defect yet

Posted: 21 Feb 2015 02:00 AM PST

We've seen some real twisted amiibo toys before--remember this?--but this one really takes the chili dog. The Sonic amiibo is in various stages of availability this week and already it has its own priceless defect ready to be sold on eBay at a premium like the $2,500 for a double arm cannon Samus

Talk about going fast!

It's hard to tell just how much this amiibo, posted by Reddit.com web user "superlegend," will go for. Defects that are missing parts tend to go for lower, hundred-dollar amounts (like $400 for a jaw-less Diddy Kong). So you'd think this shoeless Sonic figure might only be worth a few c-notes, but if you take a closer look, this Sonic toy also had some additional parts. And they aren't just dupes like the dual arm canon Samus.

Clearly, like the huge defect Donkey Kong amiibo with a mysterious head, some extra bits have been attached to this Sonic; notably, a red tie with the initials "XO" as well as Sonic series signature rings, which fortuitously fit within the franchise canon. Call the tie red athletic tape that one of the red sports teams, like the Russians, might wear and you can probably trick people into thinking it's a Sonic Boom tie in (hah!) and get even more money for it. And I'm sure those folks who draw pregnant Sonic crying at the alter beneath Bible verses will appreciate the "hugs and kisses" on the tie, XOXO.

New YIIK trailer features vinyl records, cat throwing

Posted: 20 Feb 2015 05:00 PM PST

We've been following the production of Ackk Studios' new EarthBound-inspired game for some time now. Today, it got a new trailer and a new name: YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG.

We get to see quite a bit of gameplay in this trailer, with turn-based combat, puzzle-solving, and exploration segments. Not to mention all the wonderful modern quirkiness, as the main character runs through record stores, pizza shops, and crazy psychedelic landscapes while wielding vinyl records, throwing cats to hit levers, and dropping pandas to activate switches. It's shaping up to be quite a unique adventure!

There's no solid release date just yet, but it's planned to launch late this year on Wii U, PS4, PS Vita, PC, Mac, and Linux.
