Judo is 'vintage sports games' meets 'rolling and throwing in Super Smash Bros.' Posted: 09 Jan 2015 12:45 PM PST Laboratory Games started Judo as "a fun side project," and at a glance, it might still look like one. But that's part of the charm, I think. The studio brought an arcade-cabinet version of the PC/Mac game to PAX Prime last year and found that it resonated with players, which helped encourage continued development. Expect to see a Kickstarter campaign in the coming weeks. "It's definitely multiplayer focused (up to four players)," says designer Clayton Grey, "but we've put some serious time into developing a thoughtful single-player career mode with an interesting AI that's great for learning." Reassuring. Friends aren't always willing or able to play, after all. While Holmes wasn't able to cover Judo personally, he did call it cute in the email tip we received. After seeing those little guys roll, I agree: totally cute. (But don't say that to their face.)
| Pre-purchase Evolve on Xbox One, get the Wraith and four hunters early Posted: 09 Jan 2015 11:30 AM PST Today 2K Games and Turtle Rock Studios confirmed a bonus pre-purchase incentive for Evolve on Xbox One. If you pre-purchase the game before or during the Open Beta on Thursday, January 15, you'll be able to immediately play as the Wraith monster and four late-game hunters, as opposed to the Kraken, Goliath, and the first two levels of hunters. This contradicts previous statements from Turtle Rock claiming the Wraith would not appear in the beta. Both the Wraith and the late-game hunters -- Parnell (Assault), Abe (Trapper), Caira (Medic), and Cabot (Support) -- will be part of Evolve's unlock system in the final release, but pre-purchasing the game will allow you to use them from the second you start playing. Pre-purchasing is separate from pre-ordering; a digital pre-purchase happens on a console's digital storefront and costs the full price of the game, as opposed to a $5 or $10 down payment at a physical retailer like GameStop or Target. Evolve is currently unavailable on the Xbox One's games store, but 2K told Polygon that it will announce digital pre-purchase plans "soon." | Man hate-buys Rosalina & Luma amiibo in bulk so fans can't have them Posted: 09 Jan 2015 11:00 AM PST As with any collector craze, amiibo are being hit hard by the resell market -- a group of people that buy as many as possible only to flip them for a substantial profit. Most see it purely as business, but one man's driven by a personal vendetta with regard to one of the figurines. In an interview with Nintendo Nuggets, a collector of vintage Nintendo items who goes by both "Daily Dose" and "Mariotehplumber" revealed that he's pre-ordered more than a hundred Rosalina & Luma amiibo -- all because he really, really dislikes the character. "I do not appreciate Rosalina appearing in almost every recent Mario game to date. The fact Nintendo promotes her so much and people praise her is just disgusting," he said. Daily Dose continued "I hate her fans, too. I know for a fact her amiibo will be among one of the most popular, which is why I took the time to wait and pre-order over 100 of her. I do not want her fans to be happy... It just crushes me Nintendo from the good days went to this shit for character designs." While it seems excessive, it's just a fraction of the amount of money Daily Dose claims to have committed to amiibo. He says that he has already spent more than $4,000, and that he has an additional $35,000 to invest on the figurines. Of those funds, he states that he intends to spend heavily on Lucina, Palutena, Robin, and Zero Suit Samus -- all out of a similar hatred and disdain that he has for Rosalina. Some might find it unbelievable that one man could acquire this many rare amiibo, but Daily Dose says that he orders them using addresses of friends and family. There isn't any substantial evidence that he owns all of these apart from several pictures of piles of amiibo graced by a middle finger (something that, honestly, sounds likely from a man of this mindset). So, if you're looking for a Rosalina amiibo with no luck, just remember that someone who can't stand her is part of the reason why. Exclusive: Collector Spends $4k with $35k in Reserve on Amiibo! | My desk craves this game-inspired Predator 2 figure Posted: 09 Jan 2015 10:30 AM PST I'm still kicking myself for missing NECA's glow-in-the-dark Jason Voorhees figure based on his loud design in Friday the 13th for the NES. It was exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con, and I should've had a friend nab one for me. Shoulda coulda woulda. (Typing that eases the pain.) The company's next game-inspired toy, a cool 7" Predator 2 action figure, can be pre-ordered now ahead of its May 2015 ship date. For $21.99, I'll bite. It took me a little while to figure out which game the figure is based on. Turns out that it's one I've never seen before much less played: Predator 2 for the Atari ST. But you knew that, didn't you? | Contest: Win a code for Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey! Posted: 09 Jan 2015 10:00 AM PST Destructoid has been given 10 codes for the awesome word puzzler Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey to hand out to our clever readers! Letter Quest released on Steam a little over a month ago, and its creative blending of Scrabble with RPG elements and adorable art style have garnered it an overwhelmingly positive response so far. Interested in trying it out? There's a free demo, and the save file transfers over to the full game; what do you have to lose?! If you'd rather jump right in and try for a code, listen up! See that picture below? We want you to give us your best word or phrase using as many of the available letters as you can! You don't have to use every tile, but each tile can be used only once, and your answer must be unique from all the comments that came before yours if you want it to count! Oh, and to add to the challenge, your answers must be free of naughty words. Sorry, potty-mouths! |
Drift Stage looks and plays like a love letter to classic arcade racing games Posted: 09 Jan 2015 09:30 AM PST One look at Drift Stage in motion -- a few quick seconds into its main theme song -- and it's love. This is a racing game for PC/Mac with one hell of an art direction currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. The pitch isn't super in-depth, but a "very much a work in progress" playable demo more than makes up for it by looking, sounding, and feeling good. Download that here. Drift Stage developer Super System Works cites Outrun 2, Daytona USA, and Ridge Racer as influences, just so you know what you're getting into here. Considering how much money has come in so far, I expect the studio to blow past its $30,000 target. Stretch goals? We'll see. Console players will surely want in on the fun.
| FemShep is Mass Effect's true, original Commander Shepard Posted: 09 Jan 2015 09:00 AM PST Part of the beauty of the Mass Effect series is that you can be whomever you want. There isn't a pre-ordained hero that tries to save the galaxy; you can make Shepard male or female, good or evil, gay or straight. "I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite Commander Shepard on the Citadel," you can say without a trace of irony. Well, as open to customization as Mass Effect's protagonist is, the original Commander Shepard was female. On Twitter today, lead animator Jonathan Cooper said "Ten years ago this month, my very first anim test for Mass Effect. Yup, Commander Shepard was originally a woman," accompanied by a grey-scale animated image of her running. Cooper followed up by stating that "I repurposed mocap from Jade Empire. Shepard was always planned to be both male & female after JE's pre-set characters." So, it was always the intended design for players to have full control over their commander, but FemShep was technically the first one made. Remember how Mass Effect 3 came with a reversible cover that you could take out and flip over to FemShep if you so desired? Seems like maybe it should've shipped that way in the first place. @GameAnim [Twitter]

Distant Star: Revenant Fleet is an Early Access title to keep an eye on Posted: 09 Jan 2015 08:30 AM PST I've tried to keep one eye on Blazing Griffin's lovely looking real-time space strategy game Distant Star: Revenant Fleet for a while now, however, the slippery devil somehow managed to sneak past me and make it onto Steam Early Access. If you're first hearing about the title, it's been described as similar to the incredibly popular FTL, but on a much larger scale and instead of managing a crew, you'll be busy managing a fleet of ships through a dynamically generated galaxy. Early reports are already coming in that Distant Star's difficulty curve is a bit on the high end of the scale at this stage with Rock, Paper, Shotgun's Alec Meer stating the game is "currently as hard as a really hard thing. Think of something hard. No, harder. Yeah, that's it." Knowing that the Destructoid Community is no stranger to challenging games, I still thought it would be worthwhile to check in with Blazing Griffin's Scott Boyd and ask for a few pointers he'd suggest to those who might prefer to die just a bit less often in the game.
Predicting Nintendo's next big crossover Posted: 09 Jan 2015 08:00 AM PST Somewhere on the slopes of Mount Nintendo there's an oracle that straddles a chasm wherefrom vapors emerge. She speaks in tongues, relying on an intern to interpret her enigmatic ramblings. The system has its misfires (this is how things get named Wii U, for example), but relying on these portents and premonitions has kept Nintendo in business for over a century. In recent years, the oracle has spawned a number of bizarre crossover concepts, culminating in the creation of Hyrule Warriors, Pokkén, and Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition. It's a fascinating trend, one I hope continues for a long time to come. Let's assume that it does. Let's make some wildly speculative predictions about what other mashups the future has in store.
| Devolver broadcasting gaming flicks on Twitch starting today Posted: 09 Jan 2015 07:30 AM PST Starting today at 2PM Pacific, world-renowned hustler of fine digital culture Devolver Digital will kick off a weekly series of live screenings of videogame-related movies on Twitch. According to rep Stephanie "Silver Screen" Tinsley Schopp, "the series will begin with a screening of the Devolver-produced documentary Stream Dream. This film chronicles the rising influence of gaming video content creators using Twitch and other video platforms to reach their worldwide audiences. Devolver will preface Stream Dream with a premiere of its new Winter Releases Trailer which features upcoming movie releases from the indie publishing and distribution house." What? Don't tell me you were unaware that Devolver produced and published independent films as well as hand-crafted games. Seriously, how else is the oft-misunderstood but unquestionably lovable and patriotic CFO Fork Parker going to afford to recondition Elvis' private jet the Lisa Marie with a gold-plated hot tub, state-of-the-art digital entertainment system, and a Five Nights at Freddy's-themed animatronic-staffed wet bar? This stuff doesn't come cheap! The 2015 screening schedule is as follows:
It should go without saying, but these screenings seem like a perfect opportunity for the Destructoid Community to get together for a little R&R and virtual popcorn throwing. Hope to see you lovely people in the chat channel! |
| Friday the 13th series returns to games after 26 years Posted: 09 Jan 2015 07:15 AM PST It's been quite a while since videogames explored the ghastly grounds of Camp Crystal Lake. After a 26-year hiatus since the last licensed Friday the 13th videogame, Jason Voorhees will bring his slow-shuffling and machete-hacking ways back to games. According to EGM, the tentatively titled Friday the 13th is already in development by an experienced studio, and the project will be officially unveiled in the coming weeks. It's reported to be a predator/prey asymmetric multiplayer game (what isn't these days?) in a Jason against a group of teens scenario. Given the recent push to revitalize the Friday the 13th property, the reveal makes sense. Sean S. Cunningham, the original film's director, told EGM "With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form." There's obviously no official release window yet, but an early asset simply says "2015" on it. It doesn't matter when Friday the 13th comes out, we'll be there ready to send him to the the bottom of the lake, to the depths of Hell, or to the far reaches of space.

Posted: 09 Jan 2015 07:00 AM PST Happy Friday! If you're anything like me, and if you live in the Midwestern United States, then you've most likely been home bound for the majority of the week. The weather outside has been, in one word, shit. The good news is that I've had a ton of time to sit down and play some games, since going out in this sub-zero weather (that's the joke!) is less than ideal. I've actually managed to beat two games this week (Wolfenstein: The New Order and Dishonored), which means that I've almost beaten more games than Andy Dixon played all of last year. Zing.
I didn't expect this to be my favorite AGDQ 2015 speedrun Posted: 09 Jan 2015 06:30 AM PST First, a quick thank you to Destructoid reader lunarwhale for bringing this Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels speedrun to my attention. I naively thought I'd watch a minute or two, tops, right before going to bed, but ended up sticking through to the trippy Fantasy World finale. No regrets. While this isn't the most impressive speedrun to come out of Awesome Games Done Quick 2015, it has something better: heart. I grinned every time GameJ06 commanded Bowser to "jump!"
2014's Game of the Year from 2006 because 2014 kind of sucked for games Posted: 09 Jan 2015 06:00 AM PST Yes, it's now 2015--though I'm still writing 2014 on all my checks!!!--but how can anyone do a definitive Game of the Year award until the year is officially over? Until that big dang ball drops down in The Big Apple, the Big City, New York, New York baby! What if Valve decided to stealth release Half-Life 3 on 12/31 like Beyoncé in 2013 or Run the Jewels 2 this year? It would be everyone else with egg on their face and my face wouldn't be covered in egg at all. I tried to go back and find the tweet wherein I predicted 2014 would be The Worst Year, but all I could find were really good jokes about Pokémon and cellphones and unrequited yoga-friend seeking. Fitting that I started 2014 unable to find someone to do yoga with and end it unable to find someone with whom to hoop. So I hid the prediction too well. Like any good prediction, it would have been forgotten if it hadn't come true at no cost to my reputation, but if it did come true? Man, I'd be direct linking that piece of soothsaying ad nauseum (by the way, sources tell me that Half-Life 3 is going to be released on April 4, 2015). Unfortunately, this prediction did come true and 2014 was the worst year since 2009 and I don't even get to take credit for calling it. But I won't bore you with My Bad Year. Instead, I want to award Clover Studio's God Hand with the Steven Hansen's Destructoid's Game of the Year 2014 Award for Best Game of the Year from 2006 because 2014 kind of sucked.
Aliens: Colonial Marines and AVP 2010 are back on Steam after a snafu Posted: 09 Jan 2015 05:30 AM PST Last week, Steam removed Aliens: Colonial Marines and Alien vs. Predator 2010. Speculation arose as to why it happened -- was it because of all the Colonial Marines drama at Gearbox in the past, or is it because of a licensing issue? You will regret Colonial Marines.
We choose who's gonna screw us over in Game of Thrones Posted: 09 Jan 2015 05:00 AM PST Like so many racist family members planning their strategy for Thanksgiving dinner, Will and I charted a course for passive aggression...after spending like a solid 15 minutes wandering around, trying to deduce the lesser of two evils. We've only got one more Game of Thrones installment before we move onto a new game! Let us know in the comments what you'd like to see us tackle next! I've got a couple ideas myself...
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call gets Xenogears DLC Posted: 09 Jan 2015 04:30 AM PST Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call had a ton of content packed into it -- perhaps more than any other recent rhythm game, so I'm not bothered by all the DLC it's getting. This is especially the case because "Soaring" from Xenogears made its way into the tracklist as an add-on this week. Other recent additions include SaGa Frontier's "Last Battle: T260G" and Final Fantasy VII's "Opening: Bombing Mission," "Sacrifice Part Three" for Seiken Densetsu 3, "In Search of the Sword of Mana" from Final Fantasy Adventure, and "Primal Judgment" from Final Fantasy XIV. "More songs are coming" on January 22 according to Square Enix.
This custom bad box art Mega Man figure looks like Patrick Warburton Posted: 09 Jan 2015 04:00 AM PST Bad box art Mega Man is a legend. In addition to being featured in Street Fighter X Tekken among other accomplishments, my mom picked the original Mega Man out for me because of the cover art, and the rest is history in terms of my love for the franchise. I love him. Thanks to a poster on ModxToy, we now get to see him in custom figure form, and he looks a lot like Patrick Warburton. Take a look at bad box art man in the gallery below. Sadly it's not for sale, it's just a fan production. Box art Mega Man [ModxToy via Rockman Corner]
The next generation of Xbox Live avatars may be upon us Posted: 09 Jan 2015 03:30 AM PST Miis were introduced in 2006, but Microsoft cleverly got on the bandwagon in 2008 with Xbox Live avatars. Although they weren't as cute, they were far more customizable -- and of course more profitable as the publisher sold tons of accessories for them, including Destructoid merch! We may be approaching an avatar overhaul according to a recent job listing from Microsoft, which proposes to take "Xbox avatars to the next level." The listing is calling for improvements to the entire Xbox network, including the desktop, tablet, mobile, and console arenas. My guess is the first order of business is to improve the whole system on Xbox One, which is basically just a gimped version of the 360 avatar editor. Senior Software Engineer [Microsoft Careers]
The official Wii U GameCube adapter is still crazy stupid to find, here's a third-party one Posted: 09 Jan 2015 03:00 AM PST In recent news, Nintendo sold the Wii U GameCube adapter on its site, making good on the promise that it would come back into stock -- sorta. It sold out in roughly 30 minutes, so I hope you were staring at the internet at that exact time. Don't you hate it when that happens? Apparently though there's a third-party option available on Play-Asia. It's $20, with reasonable shipping costs not included. The actual unit has no reviews, so buyer beware -- it could crap out after a few tries or in the near future. Still, it's something, and it also has a Wii U or PC switch as well as support for emulators. GameCube controller adapter for Wii U and PC [Play-Asia -- Thanks, Stephen!]
Big in Japan: Minecraft and, uh, Battlefield 4 Posted: 09 Jan 2015 02:30 AM PST Sony Japan unveiled its most downloaded PSN games of 2014 by system and the results, well, maybe they won't surprise you, but they surprised me. Minecraft took top spot on PS3 and Vita. Maybe not so surprising. D4 and Deadly Premonition director Swery noted that one of the things that kept him from playing Dragon Age: Inquisition was a Minecraft update. But the most downloaded PS4 game? Battlefield 4. Followed by FIFA 14 and Call of Duty: Ghosts. Is this like the thing with Canada being stuck in the 90's. I know Japan didn't even get the console until February of 2014, but c'mon. I guess a month and half of Advanced Warfare availability couldn't beat 10 months of little else to do with the thing but scrounge up Ghosts. Minecraft-ish Terraria took second place on Vita, followed by Freedom Wars. Meanwhile How to Survive, a random game my friend kept badgering to buy on Steam to play with him, was the second best selling downloadable PS3 game. Followed by Resident Evil 5 (which is horrible, of course). Biohazard 4 represent in the 5 spot! Destiny placed five on PS4. There's a helpful, full English translation of all 3 top 20 lists at PSN Stores.
Tri-Strip is another game that has a classic Game Boy look Posted: 09 Jan 2015 02:15 AM PST Have you been itching for a monochrome style game outside of Joylancer? You can have your fill later this year with Tri-Strip, from developer Form Up Studios. It's a lot like Tetris, and involves manipulating triangles to remove them from the board. I dig the style but it's a bit too bright at the moment. As expected, Off-TV play is supported. There's no set release date yet for the game.
PDP's Mortal Kombat X pad looks like a SEGA Genesis controller Posted: 09 Jan 2015 02:00 AM PST I've always wanted a fight stick more for arcade nostalgia than any legitimate fighting game purposes. This gamepad from PDP, specifically designed for Mortal Kombat X, elicits some nostalgia as well, as it's basically an asymmetrical Genesis controller. There are two pads planned. One will work with both PS4 and PS3, the other will work with both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. According to GameSpot it'll be between $35 and $50. Custom Mortal Kombat X Controller Revealed [GameSpot]
Bill Farmer, voice of Goofy, goofed: Kingdom Hearts III not dated yet Posted: 09 Jan 2015 01:30 AM PST Over the holiday break there was a pretty big commotion over some recent comments by Bill Farmer -- the voice of Goofy. He noted that Kingdom Hearts III was coming out "sometime this year," which he soon corrected into "2015." He said that "as far as [he] can tell" he was done with his lines, so he assumed the game was almost done. Square Enix countered this week however noting that Bill's comment was made in error, and that the title "remains unannounced." It's entirely possible that Goofy's lines were recorded early on into the process, and much more work needs to be done beyond that. Hopefully we'll get a date at E3 this year at the very least. Square Enix [Twitter]
I am a peaceful gnome bard with body image issues, what are you? Posted: 09 Jan 2015 01:00 AM PST Random generators. Without them, there would be no Childish Gambino. Probably other things. If you're looking for your next backstory in a rousing game of Dungeons and Dragons and can't be bothered imagineering one up, look no further than right here. Alternatively, take this suggestion and apply the backstory to a videogame you are playing, like Skyrim, or Max Payne 3. Ah, yes. I love Max Payne 3 and the story of Max Payne, the SOPHISTICATED ELF RANGER FROM A BOARDING SCHOOL FOR THE CHILDREN OF MIDDLE-CLASS WIZARDS WHO HAS SERIOUS DADDY ISSUES. Mine actually hits too close to home (at the base of this volcano), but I also cherry-picked it as I cycled new generations for the sake of writing this story. Do you take the first backstory affixed to you, or generate until you get one you feel you want? Maybe that says something about you.
Updates on amiibo: Toys"R"Us, discontinued figures, and more Posted: 09 Jan 2015 12:30 AM PST The first bit of 2015 amiibo news is the juicy rumor that Toys"R"Us may be holding an "amiibo event" on the 15th, with rare figures such as Captain Falcon and Pit going on sale that day. According to this post, the retailer is holding stock until then, which is why you won't see any restocks on the shelves. Toys"R"Us has denied this after my inquiry, but anything could happen. If you're free that day and are amiibo crazy, think about giving the store a call, or at the very least checking online in the morning. Having said all that, I strongly suggest you move all your current pre-orders at Toys"R"Us over to another location if possible -- as I've stated in the past, GameStop and Amazon are by far the best outlets for amiibo, since Target, Walmart, Toys"R"Us, and Best Buy have all had non-isolated cancellation issues. Speaking of Best Buy, our own Bill Platt informed me that his order of Captain Falcon was canceled, among other readers who had the same issue. As far as discontinued news goes, a new Reddit AMA with a Nintendo rep has shed some light on the situation. According to the rep, the discontinued amiibo will operate similar to the "Disney Vault," where they will come back later. This semi-contradicts statements made in the past, so we'll see what happens. Wave 4 is said to launch "as soon as spring," and the 3DS amiibo reader is projected to release somewhere around Waves 3 and 4. When asked about retailer exclusives, the rep stated that "retailer exclusives will be around as long as stores put the money up for them." Awful. So what are the cancellations? So far the rumors seem to indicate that in addition to Villager, Marth, and Wii Fit Trainer; Captain Falcon, Little Mac, and Pit are the next to be gone. In fact, they may be mostly gone already, hence Toys"R"Us holding stock. I have confirmed this with multiple GameStops in my area, but Nintendo continues to deny it. I sense a pattern. In summation -- move over your pre-orders if you can from Toys"R"Us, and if you see the above six rare amiibo, you might want to pick one up. Also, the hilarious picture below kind of sums up the amiibo situation at retailers right now.
Posted: 09 Jan 2015 12:00 AM PST I'm more of a Grimer man myself--he's a mischievous lil cutie--but I guess I can see the appeal (it's like Grimer and a light-skinned rabbit-snail banged out). Ash just caught one of these lil monsters in the XY anime, too. Still nothing on the Slowpoke video, though.
Bungie's post-holiday Destiny update is the best one yet for Dark Below Posted: 08 Jan 2015 11:00 PM PST Bungie is updating Destiny next week, and it looks to be a massive improvement for both existing raids. Now, instead of getting a random Exotic weapon from a chest that can be soloed in Crota's End, the Ir Yut boss will have actual loot (this previous choice of having zero loot for it was baffling). The Pit chest will still contain materials as normal so there's a point to it. Various bugs/cheeses will be fixed including the Pit totem launch, the bridge exploit, and various exploits against Crota himself. Finally, Exotic weapon drops in Vault of Glass will now be bumped up to level 32 -- in line with the rest of the game. Thanks for listening, Bungie. Hard Mode Crota's End isn't dated yet, but it's "almost ready." The above update should hit "as early as next Tuesday" with the reset. Bungie Weekly Update - 01/08/2015 [Bungie.net]
Iron Galaxy is teasing Omen, a new Killer Instinct character Posted: 08 Jan 2015 10:30 PM PST [Update: Now we have a picture of the leg -- really cool shadow effects. Remember this sort of old school style teasing in magazines?] A new character is coming to Killer Instinct, and developer Iron Galaxy is hinting towards what we'll get. It's Omen, Herald of Gargos, and anyone who purchased the season two pack will get him as part of their purchase. Lore-wise he's been freed from the possession of Jago, and powered up by battling as Shadow Jago. I'm digging the homage to Gargos from Killer Instinct 2 as I'm a sucker for demonic fighters like Ogre from Tekken. The Textual Stream: 01/02/15 - The Herald approaches! [Ultra Combo]
Ever wanted a game based on The Princess Bride? As you wish Posted: 08 Jan 2015 10:00 PM PST The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favorite movies. I have probably seen it a couple dozen times over the years. I have never thought that it would be great if I could play touch-based minigames based on the film. Regardless, The Princess Bride - The Official Game is now out for iOS devices. The game takes four scenes from the rising action of the movie and translates them into simple touch minigames; players won't need six fingers on one hand to maneuver. Players are tasked with bashing shrieking eels, climbing the Cliffs of Insanity, fencing Inigo Montoya (left handed?), and wrestling Fezzik the giant. There is no battle of wits against Vizzini, no diving into lightning sand, no languishing in the Pit of Despair, no storming the castle, and no R.O.U.S.es. Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist. Judging from the gameplay in the trailer above, developer Gameblend Studios' creativity is mostly dead (but slightly alive). Depending on how the game sells, the developers might end up UNEMPLOYED! IN GREENLAND! [No more movie quotes now, I mean it! --Ed]
