Atlus breaks silence on Devil Survivor 2 for 3DS Posted: 20 Sep 2014 07:00 AM PDT Atlus hasn't spoke about Devil Survivor 2: Break Record since the dawn of time. At least that's how it feels. The studio announced the role-playing game in early 2013 and has remained pretty tight-lipped about the project ever since. Until now, that is. Devil Survivor 2: Break Record will be summoned to Japan on January 29, 2015.
The Red Bull Battlegrounds StarCraft II grand finals are live! Posted: 20 Sep 2014 03:30 AM PDT Man, it feels pretty good to talk about StarCraft II esports again. I've been way more focused on Dota 2 recently and it's nice to go back to what helped get me into the scene. Anyway, the grand finals for the Red Bull Battlegrounds tournament, hosted in Washington D.C., are officially underway! Eight of the most notable names in StarCraft II have qualified and will be competing in a two-day finale for a prize pool of $50,000. Of the eight players, there are three Terran, three Protoss, and two Zerg. What a great mix of races! Is the metagame actually balanced?! This is also one of the last times to get points towards qualifying in the World Championship Series, and there are some competitors on the cusp of qualifying who could really use those points. The stream, information, and competitors are available to take in on the official site. In true Battlegrounds fashion, you can also participate in mid-match voting on the site or even on the mobile site via your phone.
What's new in God Eater 2: Rage Burst? Posted: 20 Sep 2014 03:00 AM PDT I put a sizable chunk of time into the original God Eater 2 on the Vita late last year. It was a solid entry in the long line of recent hunting action games, but certainly not without its fair share of issues. It suffered from a lack of content, and its AI was dreadful. The plentiful content updates helped a lot; online coop, new story missions, extra equipment. At the end of the day though, it still felt incomplete. The underlying mechanics were strong, so I was hopeful that we'd see an upgraded version ala Monster Hunter and the Ultimate/G releases sometime in the near future. Enter God Eater 2: Rage Burst. Featuring a new storyline, new characters, new weapons, and all sorts of other additions, Rage Burst's developers are pushing it as the definitive version of the game. I had a chance to go hands on with the Vita build and clear the two demo quests at Tokyo Game Show, and I came away feeling good about the changes.
Adopt a wolf cub in Metal Gear Solid V and he'll grow up to be badass Posted: 19 Sep 2014 04:45 PM PDT I was blown away by the extended Metal Gear Solid V gameplay demo from TGS. I knew the game would be huge and comprehensive, but it just keeps surprising me with how much content there seems to be. And we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. In the demo, we saw Quiet in action, and she looks to be a fantastic character to bring along on missions. The gameplay demo made a real believer in what she can pull off. But now, Kojima just teased another character that will likely win over the hearts of fans.
