| The Nexus Telegraph: WildStar ain't doing so good Posted: 08 Sep 2014 10:00 AM PDT Filed under: Sci-Fi, Opinion, WildStar, The Nexus Telegraph, Subscription, Buy-to-Play If you somehow missed it, last week the WildStar team announced that the game will be squishing into megaservers to help bolster populations. What the hell happened?Contrary to what the developers would like you to believe, this is not good news. It's especially bad news if you're part of the roleplaying community, as you're about to get shoved into a server configuration that's almost specifically designed to prevent you from roleplaying outside of a handful of shared plots, but it's bad news for everyone. And it's bad news for the game when server merges are a reasonable reaction after less than three full months of operation. We all know that the game launched to good reviews, and it's far too early to say, "Well, it failed." At the same time, this is not a sign of a robust and vibrant future. This is the first stage of an organized retreat, and it doesn't inspire confidence. So what, exactly, took place that brought the game from the high of its launch to server mergers today? | World of Warcraft's Draenor Q&A, Grommash Hellscream lore Posted: 08 Sep 2014 07:00 AM PDT Filed under: World of Warcraft, Fantasy, Expansions, Game Mechanics, Lore, News Items, Community Q&A, Subscription World of Warcraft generated plenty of news this past weekend! First, our sister site WoW Insider published an overview of last Friday's developer Q&A. The studio confirmed earlier reports that Warlords of Draenor was being worked on before Mists of Pandaria launched, as well as clarified Draenor's timeline (35 years in the past), noted that some garrison buildings will be account-wide, and promised no rep or PvP grinds for legendaries.Second, Blizzard posted up the another entry in its five-part series discussing the lore of major NPCs in Draenor. This video entry, included at the end of this post, covers Grommash Hellscream, chieftain of the Warsong clan. Finally, a Venturebeat piece showed WoW's soft side: A WoW-playing Alabama woman, stricken with a terminal illness, was showered with funding and support from both Blizzard and the WoW community in her attempt to attend this year's BlizzCon. | The Daily Grind: What did you accomplish in your games this weekend? Posted: 08 Sep 2014 06:00 AM PDT Filed under: Sci-Fi, MMO Industry, Opinion, The Daily Grind, Sandbox This past weekend I played a little Marvel Heroes, a lot of Space Engineers, a bit of War Thunder, and a few other things that I can't justify writing about on an MMO site. I gained some Storm levels in MH and got a few nice drops, but I had the most fun building up my outpost in SE and inviting a friend into my game toWhat about you, Massively readers? What did you accomplish in your MMOs or multiplayer games over the weekend?

| That Witcher MOBA is now in closed beta on Android Posted: 07 Sep 2014 02:00 PM PDT Filed under: Fantasy, MMO Industry, New Titles, News Items, Free-to-Play, MOBA You know, a Witcher MOBA ranks right up there with Upset Stomach Simulator 2015 on the list of games I'll never play. Your mileage may vary, though, so if you're into MOBAs and you're into all things Geralt, you should know that The Witcher Battle Arena has launched its Android closed beta."Designed with fairness in mind, the game features no pay-to-win elements and allows players to unlock every piece of in-game content via gameplay," says a developer posting sussed out by Joystiq. "Closed Beta focuses on balancing gameplay, fixing potential netcode issues, and further refining in-game features."
