| Largest EVE Online battle yet is currently in motion Posted: 28 Jul 2013 12:00 PM PDT [Update #2: All fighting is complete, and the remaining CFC/Goonswarm players are leaving the system now as well.] [Update: Test Alliance has started to back off from the system. A small amount of fighting still remains, but system 6VDT-H is now under Goonswarm Federation control -- The main alliance in the Clusterfuck Coalition.] EVE Online is one of those things. It's huge, and a lot of stories and news come out of it, but there's just so much to get through to be able to get there yourself. One of the bigger stories was a massive battle that happened in the past year, largest in the game's history. That is until today where a battle is currently taking place that is almost three times the size of it, and threatens to become even twice as large as it currently is when the reserves and reinforcements show up. This might very well be the last battle in a long standing war that has been going on between two of the largest null security space alliances, Test Alliance Please Ignore and Clusterfuck Coalition (CFC). The war has been over control of the region known as "Fountain", which contains many tech moons that are massive sources of Isk, the EVE in game currency. |
| Sony takes Fatal Frame 2 in for repairs this week on PSN Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:00 AM PDT Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly is going in for repairs this week. The digital version of the survival horror classic has been plagued with a myriad of technical issues since its release on PlayStation Network earlier this year. The fix will be issued on Tuesday as a part of the weekly PlayStation Store update. Those adversely affected will need to delete and re-download the title once the new version becomes available. | Size matters: Comparing a launch PS3 to the PS4 Posted: 28 Jul 2013 06:30 AM PDT There's no denying that the launch PlayStation 3 was a behemoth. Large and bulky, sporting more media card slots than needed, the most powerful console of its time looked more like a countertop grill than a sleek and sexy addition for any home entertainment cabinet. To further iterate this point, Sony's PS Access channel has put together a lovely video showing off just how much more attractive the Playstation 4's launch console is than its predecessor. It still looks like a giant eraser to me (not saying I don't like that look), but more importantly I have a better idea of just how snug Sony's new console is going to fit in my current gaming setup this fall. | Sup Holmes veers into danger with Paul Veer Posted: 28 Jul 2013 04:25 AM PDT Today on Sup Holmes we welcome young buck art stud Paul Veer to the program. You may not know Paul's name, but if you are among the millions that have played The Hunger Games: Girl on Fire or Super Crate Box, or are one the elite who have already declared Luftrausers to be their game of the year for 2013, then you know his work very well. His frequent collaborations with Vlambeer, his work for LA Game Space, and gallery work have made quite a splash over the past few years. While low-res sprite art is often seen as "retro", or worse, the last resort for a game designer who isn't capable of doing better, Paul's continued employment and positive fan reception prove that you can still make it in this industry as a "dot artist". We'll be talking to Paul about how he got started in the industry, his influences, the strengths and weaknesses of the medium, how to be a champion. We're also bound to talk about Pokemon X/Y. Paul likes the way the game looks, where I'm pretty darn sad that it doesn't look more like, well, a Paul Veer game. Join us at 1pm PST/4pm EST for the whole kit and caboodle. |
