Metro: LL first-week sales surpass 2033 lifetime sales Posted: 31 May 2013 04:00 PM PDT Deep Silver revealed that Metro: Last Light has been kicking some serious ass. In its first week alone, US retail sales eclipsed 2033's lifetime sales. Last Light sales on the PC tripled Metro 2033's worldwide, and across all formats worldwide Last Light has sold more units in its first week than Metro 2033 managed in three months. “4A Games are honoured by the reception our latest project has received,” said Andrew Prokhorov, Creative Director at 4A Games. “We are a small but dedicated team who are lucky to have been given the creative freedom and support to make the kind of experience we dream, as gamers, of playing. Our work on Metro: Last Light continues with new single player DLC, and we look forward to revealing future projects from the team. We want to thank all the Metro fans for support we have received.” This is great news, and bodes well for 4A Games and the future of the Metro franchise.
Borderlands 2 cosplayers unite for this rad music video Posted: 31 May 2013 03:00 PM PDT Like every meeting of the nerd minds, you can expect a healthy amount of awesome cosplay, and the London Comic Con is no exception. Not satisfied with a mere gallery, the folks behind the YouTube channel sneakyzebra made two full cosplay music videos, one showcasing the best costumes of the show, and the other entirely focused on Borderlands. From classic standbys like Lilith and Mordecai (sadly no Zero cosplayers), to the newest school characters like Gaige and Krieg, there's a hearty mix of characters from across the series. The production values in both of these are palpable. From the editing, cinematography, and music, it oozes grace. Special mention goes to the music in the Borderlands video, which comes by way of Miracle of Sound.
The DTOID Show: Prey 2, Titan, and Limbo on PS Vita! Posted: 31 May 2013 02:30 PM PDT Evening, mates! If you're wondering why Max isn't posting tonight's episode, it's because a giant bird attacked him in the parking lot this morning. Or something else that makes sense. Thankfully, good samaritan Anthony Carboni stepped in to talk about Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and PS Vita news in his wake. We also discuss the recent rumors surrounding Prey 2, the new Kickstarter from Double Fine, and the delay of Blizzard's secret MMO, Titan.
Weekend PC download deals - Tropico, Alan Wake, Batman Posted: 31 May 2013 02:00 PM PDT Hamza's already let us know that both DmC and the Alan Wake franchise are reduced this weekend on Steam but that's not all that Valve's service has to offer. Both Primal Carnage and ORION: Dino Horde are free to play this weekend and are reduced in price by 50% and 25% respectively. If you fancy yourself as an El Presidente in the making, then you should snap up the Tropico franchise which is cut in price by 75% on Gamersgate. Meanwhile, Amazon's Mayhem (Mayhem I tells ya!) Sale comes to a close today, so get your discounts on the likes of Dead Island, Batman Arkham games and Lego Batman 2 whilst you still can. GOG.com are having a half price sale on classic Activision titles, including the likes of Space Quest and Phantasmagoria. GreenManGaming have a SEGA promo this weekend with different daily deals; right now you can get Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed for half-price. I also noticed you can get the recently released Call of Juarez: Gunslinger for 25% off as well. That's all for now but if you find more PC weekend download deals please leave them in the comments.
Killer is Dead boss fight & Gigolo missions get shown off Posted: 31 May 2013 01:00 PM PDT Finally, a good look at Killer is Dead's gameplay. The first video here shows off some of the fighting mechanics with your sword and robotic gun arm. Plus we also get to see a boss fight against Hamadayama that starts off with Mondo on a motorcycle slashing at Hamadayama while he's riding on a tiger. Then later the tiger is coming out of the boss's back because reasons. The next video is a very quick look at a Gigolo mission, which sees you having to stare at women to receive points I guess. All of the images for the game have been pretty to look at, but now that you're seeing the game in action what do you think?
Drinkbox talks Guacamelee DLC, possibility of sequel Posted: 31 May 2013 12:30 PM PDT Guacamelee! came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I generally don't enjoy brawlers, but the goofy charm and streamlined Metroidvania elements came together to be something genuinely special. Fortunately, the title did really well in sales, and Drinkbox Studios is thinking about the future of the franchise, as studio co-founder Graham Smith discussed in an interview with IGN. Smith confirms that the studio is working on Guacamelee! DLC, but that a full sequel is far from a guarantee. “It’s something that we talk about," Smith says. "We’re talking about what our next new IP is going to be, so we haven’t really decided on that yet. But one of the things as part of that conversation is the possibility of doing a sequel. But we haven’t really made any decisions either way with that.” Guacamelee DLC incoming, sequel possible [IGN]
Paradise Perfect: boating Crazy Taxi from Real Texas dev Posted: 31 May 2013 12:00 PM PDT The Real Texas, developed by Calvin French, is a game that spoke to me. I honestly think about it and its characters all the time. It's a very special game and one that I love dearly. Mr. French has been teasing his new "boat game" on Twitter for some time now, with no real concrete information as to what is actually is. Well, now it's out! Out of the blue (does that count as an ocean pun?) he has released his boat game, now with a proper title: Paradise Perfect: Boat Rescue. It's only $3 and is sort-of-episodic in nature. Further episodes, though not guaranteed, can and will be written by the players, by way of going on the forum and writing stuff. A level editor is also included, and buying the first episode will guarantee you every future episode, should there be any, for free. The way the gameplay is described reminds me of Crazy Taxi. Picking up people on islands and getting them to where they want to go is the main objective, though I doubt any Offspring plays in the background. There's also enemies who want to try and stop you, because they're probably jerks. You can buy Paradise Perfect: Boat Rescue from the official site.
Meet Borderlands 2's Krieg, he drives the poop train Posted: 31 May 2013 11:30 AM PDT Krieg, Borderlands 2's newest downloadable character, has some sort of odd affliction. Somewhere between his brain and his mouth, his intended words get replaced by phrases of utter insanity. At least he lives up to his namesake of "Psycho". This is how we come to learn that Krieg has the shiniest meat bicycle. It's also how we find out that he's the conductor of the poop train. Sadly, it's never established if this fecal locomotive is figurative or literal. I hope it's literal.
Terraria to go mobile on phones and tablets this summer Posted: 31 May 2013 11:00 AM PDT Of all the indie games that I've treasured in recent years, few took as strong a hold on me as Terraria did. While so many world exploration sandbox games can feel lonely (Creepers don't make great company), the addition of functional non-player characters really made it feel alive for me. Now, Re-Logic is bringing that life to mobile devices, promising a new release this summer. No details have been given as to which platforms it will appear on yet. My concern is how it will look and control. The sprites in Terraria are pretty small and there are a number of functions that I would expect to be an interesting challenge to implement on touch-based devices. I'm not saying it can't be done or that I'm disinterested, but I am certainly wary.
Monster Hunter 4 gets Japanese release date and trailer Posted: 31 May 2013 10:00 AM PDT Today's Japanese Nintendo Direct had some pretty good news for fans of the Monster Hunter series, showing off a new video as well as announcing a release date. The video shows off some badass monsters that you'll be tackling, including some sort of dual-monster hybrid that I want no part of. Then again, think of the cool loot that it'll give! Gah! The game will be released in Japan on September 14, alongside two custom 3DS XLs that will come with the game. After playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the 3DS for about a dozen hours total so far, I will say that the controls fare better than I thought they would simply due to the ability to add "buttons" to the touch screen. It does make for a serious hand cramp after a few hours, however.
Microsoft: Devs have monthly cap for adding Achievements Posted: 31 May 2013 09:30 AM PDT With the impending change of guard of Xbox consoles, Microsoft is taking the opportunity to revamp its Achievement system. There have been plenty of rumors surrounding Xbox One Achievements, but Microsoft shed a bit of light on one of the crucial aspects. In an interview with Xbox360Achievements, Xbox One program manager Chad Gibson revealed that developers will be subject to a monthly cap for the number of Achievements that they're able to add. While developers can add Achievements every week, "developers won't be adding 10,000 Gamerscore a day" said Gibson. Gibson went on to state that these limitations would be in place because they "don't want to overwhelm gamers". I guess this is decent news for the people that actually care about Achievements, as it provides a bit of comfort that some sort of structure will remain. Call me cynical, but the "developers can always add Achievements" facet feels like a thinly-veiled attempt to keep people from trading in their games. At least Microsoft isn't awarding Achievements for watching TV. Oh, that might be a thing? Damnit. Xbox One Achievements to Receive Monthly Cap [Xbox360Achievements]

Friday Night Fights: Let's all STFUAJPG for a while Posted: 31 May 2013 08:30 AM PDT Welcome to another edition of Dtoid's Friday Night Fights! There's been a lot of drama in the videogame community lately, between the will they/won't they Xbox One controveries, Anita Sarkeesian's latest video, whether or not Podtoid is appropriate listening material for children, etc. Hell, you know it's gotten bad when our resident fun-loving, image-sharing, Lisa-Frank-fan-club-presidenting Occams electric toothbrush even comes out of his basement attic cave to sound off on the matter. So I propose we all take a break from the SERIOUS BUSINESS of video gaming and just play some actual goddamn videogames for a while. Even if only for a night, let's lay down our arms, pick up our controllers, and try to rekindle that spirit that brought us all together to begin with. You know: FUN! So who's with me? Tired of the BS and ready to just kick back and enjoy games again? Hit the jump to see what we've got in store! And don't worry; I'm sure you'll have something new to get angry about come Monday...
Europa Universalis IV: Rule, Britannia! Posted: 31 May 2013 08:00 AM PDT Paradox Development Studios' grand strategy titles are not known for their multiplayer, but the Swedish developer is working hard to change this. Way back in cold January, I had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours with Europa Universalis IV -- the next installment in the studio's flagship series -- playing against, and with, several other members of the press. I came away surprised by how well the multiplayer worked and eager for more. Fast forward to early May, and I found myself in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Around a dozen members of the gaming press and YouTubers had gathered in the historic Royal Armory for two days of EUIV multiplayer mayhem, and while we all started off as jovial, friendly folk, by day two we would have thrown each other to the wolves for the promise of land and power.
| Kaz Hirai says PlayStation 4 is 'all about the gamers' Posted: 31 May 2013 07:30 AM PDT Loud and clear, Sony boss man Kazuo Hirai believes that the PlayStation 4 must target core gamers from the outset before expanding for others mind share. Speaking with Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg during a talk at the D11 conference, Hirai stated “I fundamentally believe that the initial market that we need to make sure we appeal to with any new platform … is really the gaming audience ... They will be the supporters of your platform and they will help propel the installed base.” Hirai confirmed that the PS4 will have non-gaming applications, but says the focus on those will come "after we establish the platform as a videogame platform. For us, it’s all about the gamers.” These statements of course stand in stark contrast to the recent attitude we've seen from Microsoft and the Xbox One, pushing entertainments apps and TV at the grand reveal of what was supposed to be a gaming console. | Japanese rigged PC auto-levels Dragon Quest X characters Posted: 31 May 2013 07:00 AM PDT Hey, cheater! Want to level up but don't want to put in the time? Playing Dragon Quest X? One smart Japanese gamer has come up with a way to rig up a PC that will leve your DQX character up while you are off enjoying the sunshine (or another game). The PC has a special macro set that puts your character on autopilot for a few days. When you come back from enjoying your life, you'll be 65 levels stronger! Rocketnews24 says that, according to Yahoo! Auctions feedback for the item, some have already purchased and have used this PC. What's crazy is that it goes for for about $1,000. What sucks is that it probably violates the game's terms of service. |
Limited edition Bidoofshock Infinite posters on sale now! Posted: 31 May 2013 06:30 AM PDT The best thing about Teenage Pokemon is the art. Sadly, a lot of the show's greatest visuals are only on-screen for a few seconds. The covers for Borderlanderous 2, Grand Theft Pokeball V, Lesbian Nidoqueens of Mars, and Bidoofshock Infinite come and go so fast, yet they're still the most beloved moments in the PAX Special. Also, that Tokenman gameplay animation by Paul Veer. Everyone loves that too. Bidoofshock went on to be the breakaway hit though, winning the Teenage Pokemon t-shirt poll and becoming a minor Reddit sensation. We're still working on that shirt thing, but in the meantime, you can possess Doofer Dewitt in all his glory in 24 x 36 inch poster form. Each poster is individually numbered, and only 1,000 will be sold. They're set on thick, matte paper that almost feels like canvas. It feels pretty awesome. Sadly, we can only ship to the US at this time, but depending on how these sell, we may be able to do a limited Canadian/European run in the future. If you want to make this unique piece of videogame fan art your own, it'll set you back a mere 35 Canadian dollars. Purchase yours directly from the artist today using the PayPal button below and BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS IN YOUR ORDER! The Bidoofshock Infinite poster is guaranteed to make you the most interesting person in your dorm/neighborhood/town/world. Makes a great gift. Is a hit at parties. Order now while supplies last.
| GungHo CEO: 'I want to top Nintendo's sales' Posted: 31 May 2013 06:00 AM PDT GungHo Online is feeling pretty high and mighty lately, and with good reason -- the publisher made $118 million last month and more than ten percent of Japan is playing Puzzle & Dragons. GungHo isn't looking to rest on its laurels though. The company has set its sights on Nintendo, endeavoring to dethrone the platform holder and become the world's premier publishing house. “I want to top Nintendo’s sales by the time I retire,” GungHo boss Kazuki Morishita told Bloomberg. “I respect Nintendo,” he added, saying he wants to emulate them and "make people think whatever GungHo does is fun.” GungHo's shares have risen dramatically this year; the company's market value even managed to eclipse that of Nintendo for a couple days this month. However, the publisher's stock has fallen 27 percent since recording record highs on May 14. Whether GungHo's recent success with Puzzle & Dragons is a sign of things to come or merely a flash in the pan remains to be seen, but Morishita will need to deliver consistently if he hopes to turn his ambitions of world domination into a reality. | Using SCIENCE to learn the effects of killing used games Posted: 31 May 2013 05:30 AM PDT With all this hubbub over used games and whether eliminating them would be good or bad for the overall industry, it was only a matter of time before SCIENCE was brought in to drop some truth bombs. Professors Masakazu Ishihara (New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business) and Andrew Ching (University of Toronto Rotman School of Management) have closely studied the Japanese gaming market, where pre-owned business is much more significant than it is in the US, and shared their findings in a paper published on December 15, 2012. Their verdict? Not quite what you'd expect. Ishihara and Ching found that, all else remaining equal, eliminating the used market would result in a 10% drop in publishers' profits per game. However, if average retail prices for software were to drop by a third across the board -- $40 down from $60 -- publishers could actually see a 19% rise in profits. Of course, the profit increase scenario would only work if publishers agree to a reduced MSRP, the likelihood of which is up for debate. Ishihara and Ching's study demonstrates that there are many factors involved in used game sales and purchases. Consumers assign value to their individual software purchases, and some of that value is derived from their ability to resell it down the road. Reduced retail prices could feasibly counterbalance the loss of resales. No matter how you look at it, this is a far more complex situation than anyone could have imagined. | Canadian Best Buys getting Nintendo's E3 demos Posted: 31 May 2013 05:00 AM PDT As you may already be aware, Nintendo will allow the common folk to play E3 demos at select Best Buys throughout North America. We then shared a list of 89 cities in the continental United States that will play host to these games. But didn't Nintendo say more than 100 Best Buys will receive demos? Very perceptive! The remaining locations are dotted throughout Canada! Apologies for not listing them to begin with! As with the US locations, the demos will be playable from 4-8 PM on Wednesday, June 12, and from 1-5 PM on Saturday, June 15. Check the stores below to see if you're in the area. | Solid Snake's English voice actor to be revealed soon Posted: 31 May 2013 04:30 AM PDT A quick teaser, by way of GameSpot, names the Konami pre-E3 show as the place for the reveal of Solid Snake's supposed new voice actor for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes. I say supposed because many people haven't put it past them that David Hayter will be returning, and Kojima is just back at his trickster ways. It's certainly not a stretch, as Kojima has proven himself to be quite the fan of Easter eggs, cryptic teasers, and general tomfoolery. Plus, David just happened to Tweet something about voices and E3. Coincidence?! If it's not David Hayter though, who could step in to fill the role? A fresh unknown, Troy Baker, Nolan North, or the smooth soulfulness that is Little Richard? |
Civ V trailer will be the best minute of your day Posted: 31 May 2013 04:00 AM PDT A new trailer has arrived for the Civilization V expansion, Civilization V: Brave New World. There's quite a bit of meat on Brave New World's bones, with plenty of later-game additions, and an emphasis on trade routes. For a hearty rundown of what the expansion is set to offer, do check out Fraser's preview. For now though, just let the angelic vocal chords of the announcer carry you to a state of indolent bliss. If he doesn't became the Nolan North of videogame trailers, then I weep for this industry.
Final Fantasy V OST also gets remastered, coming soon Posted: 31 May 2013 03:30 AM PDT Similar to the re-release treatment that the Final Fantasy IV soundtrack will be getting this coming July, Square Enix has announced details for the Final Fantasy V Original Sound Track Remaster Version. While it won't be as spectacular as the Final Fantasy IV re-issue, which boasts additional loops and spans an extra disc, the album will still contain remastered music and feature a fancy box illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano for first-press editions.
Guh-huh! Banjo-Kazooie Symphony is up for download Posted: 31 May 2013 03:00 AM PDT Ready to celebrate 15 years of the Bear and Bird? Blake Robinson's Banjo-Kazooie Symphony is ready for your Jiggies! We previewed select tracks from the album a few weeks back, and now the 30-song, 72-minute release is available on Loudr and iTunes for $10. Like Blake's last album, Super Metroid Symphony, this is a collection of orchestral arrangements programmed in FL Studio. It covers every number in the original Banjo-Kazooie soundtrack and even received the full blessing of B-K composer Grant Kirkhope. I know that you can't get N64-era Rare out of your head, especially not with all these Rare-related stories and announcements lately. Why not pick up this album and reminisce about the glory days some more?
Sample pages from the Mega Man 25 Complete Works art book Posted: 31 May 2013 02:30 AM PDT Close enough to taste it, the wait is almost over for the UDON release of the MM25: Mega Man & Mega Man X Official Complete Works art book. To tide you over, here's some sample pages of the upcoming book by way of Capcom-Unity. There are over 100 pages of previously unseen work, bringing the total page count to over 430 pages. Among the new pages, you can find art assets from Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10. The release date is still a tentative August/September 2013, but the most faithful among you can head over to the Amazon and Barnes & Nobles pages to pre-order.
Ex-Vigil staffer on what Darksiders III could have been Posted: 31 May 2013 02:00 AM PDT In an interview with IGN, Ex-Vigil creative director Joe Madureira released a few nuggets of information on what Darksiders III could have been, provided Vigil staff, and not Nordic Games, had won the bidding war. “It was always our hope to do a full four-player co-op game, with all four Horsemen playable ... It’s possible we could have pulled it off. I would have liked to introduce Fury and Strife. I know many fans feel robbed that they never got to play the last two Horsemen." Story ideas included the four horsemen taking to fight to hell to battle Lucifer, going up against the Charred Council, or even making the Horsemen mortals once humanity had been brought back. Madureira goes on to comment the series' new steward, Nordic Games and whether or not he'd be go back to work on another entry. “I’m not sure how I feel about the Nordic purchase to be honest. I have sort of a ‘wait and see’ attitude about it, as I’m sure many people do. I’m not sure if I’d want to get involved with it or not. A lot of my love for the IP is also wrapped up in the people we had at the studio and the stuff we created together. But I’ve learned to never say never." I never actually got around to playing either of Darksiders games myself, but have more than a few friends who are fans of the series. I was surprised to hear a collective "meh" from them at the idea of a four player Darksiders, concerned that the sense of accomplishment associated with beating a boss or general progression could be muted. In any case, it looks like were going to play a long waiting game before hearing anything about Darksiders III proper. What Darksiders III Could Have Been [IGN]
| Take-Two: 'Tablets are going to be as good as PCs' Posted: 31 May 2013 01:30 AM PDT Take-Two's CEO Strauss Zelnick is a man that sees the same future I do. A future where tablets will be on par with next-generation consoles. Strauss gave a talk at the Cowen and Company Technology, Media and Telecom Conference where he stated that Take-Two is bridging the gap in which its core games appear on tablets and smartphones. "We continue to believe that video games will be more and more important to consumers on mobile platforms, especially tablets," Zelnick said. "We think tablets are going to be as good as PCs. We think they're a great entertainment device already. They're not quite there from a processing power POV, but they will get there. "As tablets gets smarter and more robust, we figure we'll have day-and-date releases on tablets in the same way that we do on PC. That also mitigates any risk related to the launch of the next hardware generation." In the mean time, Take-Two is making efforts to bring some of their older catalog titles such as Grand Theft Auto III, Max Payne, and more onto mobile platforms. Plus, the mobile version of XCOM: Enemy Unknown will soon be making an appearance for tablets and smart phones as well. | FuRyu reveals new PS Vita, 3DS role-playing game Exstetra Posted: 31 May 2013 01:00 AM PDT Unchained Blades developer FuRyu has unveiled its next project, Exstetra, a fantasy role-playing game for PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. The story sounds pretty bizarre. Or maybe it's just like every other JRPG ever. I'll let you decide. A pair of parallel universes are unexpectedly being joined at the hip and the fate of the world hangs in the balance. Luckily, there's a chosen one on hand, predestined to bring peace to the world and save it from destruction. Oh! And to save the day he'll need to kiss girls. Because reasons. エクステトラ 超王道本格ファンタジーRPGが登場 [Famitsu] |
MMOs don't work in the US, Take-Two CEO says Posted: 31 May 2013 12:00 AM PDT Did you know Take-Two was investing in the MMO genre? They sure are, but don't be surprised by your lack of knowledge on their projects as these MMOs are targeted just for Asia. "We're actively investing in online MMOs, we're not doing it in the US. Why? Because MMOs don't work here," Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said during the Cowen Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference. Strauss added that only two MMOs have ever found true success in the US: World of Warcraft and EverQuest. He also specifically referenced how Blizzard had to delay and restart their other upcoming MMO project, Titan, noting that competitors have had "very, very expensive lessons" learning the hard way on how MMOs perform in the US.
Microsoft spending $1 billion on Xbox One games Posted: 30 May 2013 11:00 PM PDT Amidst the flurry of TV, Kinect 2.0, and the kinda-sorta-maybe always online DRM speak at the Xbox One reveal, many people were upset (to say the least) at the perceived lack of games for the console. Speaking to the Official Xbox Magazine, Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer estimates the company is investing approximately $1 billion dollars on games. That includes first party titles, exclusive content, and timed exclusives. Microsoft's President of Interactive Entertainment, Don Mattrick, also had a few words on the subject. "We just ran through our script and counted the number of exclusives, and looked at the amount of money that we're spending and the deals that we have, exclusive windows and [things to create differentiation]. I think, candidly, people are way, way under-indexing how hard we're punching." E3, and ultimately the system's launch, it seems will be the proving grounds for their lofty claims. So here's to hoping the push for core titles is as big as they say. Spencer also had a few words for the LIVE service as well as the console's general road map. "Just like at the beginning of any console generation, where we end up will migrate as people learn about the functionality of the box. They'll learn as Live evolves, as our platform evolves." So I guess we'll learn to get used to Kinect and (possible) DRM, or Microsoft will learn to cut that out. Why you shouldn't underestimate Microsoft's core line-up [OXM]
| Cave Story creator Daisuke Amaya delays Gero Blaster Posted: 30 May 2013 10:00 PM PDT Sad news, Cave Story fans. It might be a while longer before Daisuke Amaya delivers his next game, Gero Blaster. The prolific Japanese indie developer has announced the sidescroller is being delayed to make the game "more fun and exciting." Gero Blaster is a run-and-gun iOS title about a gun-toting frog on a mission to rescue his feline girlfriend from something. | Take-Two: Delight consumers, don't punish them Posted: 30 May 2013 08:00 PM PDT Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick gave a talk at the Cowen Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, where he had a number of things to say about his company and the industry as a whole. Strauss brought up the used games fee that the Xbox One will reportedly have, and stated that "There's no question that if Microsoft has figured out a way to tax used games, then we should get paid, too. It's hard to imagine why they should and we shouldn't." On the whole used games front in general though, Strauss believes pushing the quality of their products will help offset the sales of used games. "Our view about used games has been, as opposed to whining or figuring out ways to punish the consumer for buying used games, we've figured out we better delight the consumer," Zelnick stated. "Let's push up our quality, which you've seen in our Metacritic scores, and then let's make sure to give people DLC, often free, three or four weeks out; which is the time you're at risk for them trading in their game. If you can keep the game in consumer's hands for 8 weeks, you almost don't care anymore about used game sales because it's the first 8 weeks that really nail you." Strauss added that he is hopeful that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will allow companies like Take-Two to participate in the used games market. | The Daily Hotness: Massive Chalice Posted: 30 May 2013 04:59 PM PDT Double Fine announced a new game in the works today, with its own Kickstarter set to obtain funding. Considering Broken Age isn't out yet, some people on the Internet are crying foul that Double Fine is asking for more money. I personally don't see the problem, as the video does a decent job explaining the different teams working on different projects. But hey, if you don't want to back Massive Chalice, that's your prerogative. Otherwise, the Podtoid crew released another episode, Jonathan put out the recording of this week's Sup Holmes, Patrick gave Swapper a whopping 10/10, and so much more happened on this fine day.
