Sup Holmes gets devious with Frog Fractions' Jim Crawford Posted: 13 Jan 2013 06:30 AM PST
[Destructoid's Director of Communications Hamza Aziz asked Jonathan Holmes to make a show called 'Sup, Holmes?' so that Destructoid could later sell a t-shirt that says 'Sup, Holmes?' on it. This is that show. Subscribe to the podcast feed and find more episodes here.] This week on Sup Holmes we welcome Twinbeard Studio's Jim Crawford, creator of Futilitris, Frog Fractions, Hot Dachshund, and many more. Like Tomorrow Corporation's Little Inferno and Ian Bogost's Cow Clicker, Jim's videogames are often about videogames, which some would say make them "post modern." Others just think they are fun and hilarious. It could go either way. You'd have to play them yourself to find out where you stand on this important issue. We'll be talking to Jim about where he's been, where he's going, if he'll start selling games someday or stick with the free model, if he's played Homestuck, and much more. Join us at 1pm PST/4pm EST to watch the action EXPLODE. Watch live video from Destructoid.com Live Shows! on www.twitch.tv |
Press Paws aims to save the animals with art and games Posted: 13 Jan 2013 05:30 AM PST
Press Paws - Saving Animals with Art and Video Games from Secret Powers on Vimeo. A few weeks ago on Sup Holmes, guest Mariel Cartwright (Skullgirls) teased her involvement with Press Paws- a videogame-themed gallery show to benefit What's Up Dog LA. Featured artists include Paul Roberstson, Jim Mahfood, Jeff Delgado, Bobby O'herlihy, Lacey Micallef (designer of these Parappa and Totokeke buttons) various artists from Girls Drawin' Girls, and many more. The show was co-sponsored by Nicalis, publisher of Cave Story and VVVVVV on the eShop. If you like videogames, dogs, or videogame dogs, you owe it to yourself to check it out. The show opens on February 9th at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, CA. I'm going to do my best to make it. Barring that, I'm definitely buying one of those buttons. Parappa with teeth is the best. |

So, like, this is nothing new. We briefly brought up Japan World Cup, a weird-ass horse race-betting DVD game, a couple years back. You might not have heard of it. Or, if you are like me, you completely forgot that this is a thing that exists. Consider this a refresher course in "Japan is f*ckin' nuts" 101. [Vinesauce] Studyguy - Japonies 2013 [YouTube] |
