Massively's One Shots department did its best to counter the situation by taking an angry protest nap, but nothing doing. The next best solution is to ask all of you with great Glitch screenshots to send them our way.Reader Jeremy submitted this haunting picture that works on a couple of different levels in light of the recent announcement. "Kids," he warns, "this is a warning of the harmful effects of No-No Powder. One day, you're sitting in your pleasant home street, admiring the view. Next, you're waking up naked in a tundra with nothing but your quickly diminishing dignity." Let's go on a cold, naked adventure together through the rest of this week's player-submitted pictures! | The Daily Grind: Do you like weapon glow effects? Posted: 18 Nov 2012 05:00 AM PST Filed under: Culture, Opinion, The Daily Grind, Miscellaneous Blame J.R.R. Tolkien for coming up with a weapon that included a handy glow app so that a blue light around it would appear if Orcs or Amway representatives were nearby. While it may have not been the first glowy weapon in fiction, it certainly helped to propel the notion that really cool daggers, swords, spears, and whatnot all included nightlights.MMOs are replete with glowy weapons, are they not? These weapons usually include such an effect to signify them as elite or high-level. We've seen everything from a rainbow of glows to flames to crackling electricity emanate from an unsheathed weapon. But the question for today is whether or not you like it. Are glowy weapons a visual treat or an annoying distraction for you? Will you go out of your way to obtain one or are you ambivalent toward them? And if you do like them, what's your all-time favorite weapon visual effect?

| Age of Wushu provides important life lessons, like how to conduct a proper kidnapping Posted: 17 Nov 2012 05:00 PM PST Filed under: Betas, Video, Culture, Game mechanics, News items, Free-to-play, Age of Wushu Video games are especially known for giving players the ability to do things they could never really do in meatspace. Thanks to Age of Wushu, you can now add kidnapping to the list of dragon-slaying, spell-casting, and other things you (hopefully) don't do in real life. A recent news post details the mechanics of kidnapping offline players and selling them for profit. When players go offline in Age of Wushu, their characters become NPCs, and those NPCs are ripe for the kidnapping. Nefarious players can attempt to knock out, kidnap, and even sell offline players. While conducting these slimy activities, players will be clearly marked for the Scumbag Steves that they are, which makes them target for both heroic players and other kidnappers. Check out the link below for full details on the mechanic or skip below the cut for a video.

| The Tattered Notebook: Breaking into EQII's Chains of Eternity Posted: 17 Nov 2012 01:00 PM PST Filed under: Fantasy, EverQuest II, Expansions, Opinion, Free-to-play, The Tattered Notebook EverQuest II's Chains of Eternity launched this past week, and while the paint is still fresh and I'm still taking it all in, there are a few things I really appreciate with this expansion so far. If you look back at all of the past expansions and adventure packs, you'll notice there always seemed to be one or two things that were trial balloons and never really fit with the spirit of EQII. In Desert of Flames, it was the arena, while more recently in Velious, the public quests got a lot of use but always seemed to have issues (and they now seem to be off the radar entirely). Chains of Eternity is just good old EverQuest II content, and it's tailor-made for longtime players. In this week's Tattered Notebook, I'll offer up some first impressions of the new expansion and a few things that I appreciate about the game. | The Mog Log: Stuff I'm going to miss from Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 Posted: 17 Nov 2012 11:00 AM PST Filed under: Fantasy, Culture, Game mechanics, Opinion, Consoles, Final Fantasy XIV, The Mog Log The end of Final Fantasy XIV as we know it provoked a lot of emotions from me, as did the trailer released concurrently. I felt a great deal of sorrow, both for the end of the world and the end of my character's story at the time (which is tied into a lot of roleplaying you don't need to hear about). I felt a stirring of hope for the changes coming to the game and the world. I felt inspiration at the sweep and movement of the events surrounding the conclusion and a sense of awe at what had been done.I also felt a great deal of frustration at the game's servers and the rather lackluster event itself, but that's kind of an irrelevant discussion. It's a lesson to learn for a next time that won't happen. Amidst all of these other feelings, I also felt a sense of sadness about certain parts of the game that are going away when it relaunches. There are aspects I'm going to miss about Final Fantasy XIV's first version, even if I know why those aspects need to be removed from a design standpoint. Today, I'm going to look back at those elements, things that we're going to be rid of that I'm still going to sort of miss in the long run.
