| Perfect World International: Sirens of War Now Live Posted: 14 Nov 2012 03:47 PM PST Perfect World Entertainment announced today that the sixth expansion for Perfect World International, “Sirens of War,” is now live. The new expansion includes large enhancements to skills, new quests and gear, and new PvP modes. “Sirens of War brings exciting changes for veterans and beginners alike, and it really has never been a better time for players to dive in,” said Tony Liu, Product Manager for the internationally praised free-to-play MMORPG title. “For the first time in PWI, Nation Wars brings an incredible server-wide battle system that allows thousands of players to simultaneously fight with and against each other. This will be one of the most incredible grand scale battle systems imaginable.” Every Friday and Sunday, from 8:20pm to 10:20pm server time, players level 60 plus can sign up to fight in Nation Wars and be assigned to one of the four nations: Frost, Flame, Light, or Darkness. The crafty Overseer demon will randomly assign players to create armies for each nation as they are sent to their nation’s respective headquarters. Once the war begins, the true nature of the strategic battlefield will be revealed on a new map with dozens of regions ready for each nation to fight over. Military coins will be awarded based on each nation’s success, as well as according to individual actions within each regional battle.
In PWI: Sirens of War, four great leaders from distant lands have come forth, bringing with them an endless war of nations, along with opportunities to win incredible power and glory. | Snail Games Announces Age of Wushu Closed Beta Posted: 14 Nov 2012 02:39 PM PST Snail Games USA has announced that the first closed beta test for its martial-arts inspired MMORPG, Age of Wushu, will begin on Thursday, November 15. The beta will take place until the 25th of November, and will be the first time that players in the United States and Canada will be able to play. The closed beta event was originally only offered to media and players who pre-ordered exclusive editions of the game. However, to mark the occasion, Snail Games is extending Closed Beta access to those players who not have yet pre-purchased Age of Wushu. Codes will be limited and given on a first-come, first-served basis, and will not extend to the second closed beta or full launch. "We were truly overwhelmed by the North American response to Age of Wushu," says Shi Hai, Founder and Chairman of Snail Games. "As a show of gratitude to the fanbase who have been anticipating and awaiting the game's release, we decided to treat them to a sneak preview of the full majesty of Age of Wushu. We believe it will completely surpass their expectations." Endorsed by martial arts icon Jet Li—who also serves as the Global Spokesman for the title—Age of Wushu is set in a fantastical and mythical version of Ming Dynasty-era China. Overview OverviewHailan Rising will have two types of zones: Neutral and Contested. Neutral zones will not be flagged for PvP. In neutral zones, players of all factions will have the ability to trade and interact with one another in safe PvE environments. Contested zones will be all-out PvP battlegrounds, but each will have its own specific goal. Some maps will serve as weekly battleground points. Shores of Ashken is the first of the weekly battlegrounds to be released and will be available at launch. These types of zones are designed to throw hundreds of members from each faction into the battle to see who reigns supreme. The faction that wins the weekly war will receive bonuses until the time of the next war. Other zones, such as Crater, will feature control points that will be contested on a nonstop basis. Did you or your guild conquer the evil dragon that is guarding the zone? If you did, then you are the owner of the zone and the benefits of controlling it are yours. But every other guild in the game is now going to be targeting you. And then there are zones such as Shrieking Caverns that are meant for more casual players. These types of zones are able to be controlled only by an individual or a single group, not a guild or raid force. Expect these types of zones to change ownership often. The really cool thing about these types of zones is that once you are the owner of the zone, you will gain a small lifetime buff (such as a 1% bonus to HP) even if you control the zone for only a few seconds. PvP will take place on three fronts: 1) Large Scale Server Wide Wars, 2) 24/7 Contested Control Points, and 3) Individual/Single Group Control Points. And on top of all that, every PvP kill that you earn will add to your overall individual PvP ranking. So if you are just not interested in the territory control system, you still have the option to pursue the personal glory of being #1 and sitting atop the PvP rankings! Players are encouraged to sign up on the game’s website to join. DK Online places a heavy emphasis on player vs. player combat. While the main focus seems to be on guilds, players can look forward to some additional improvements as well. Players who spend more than 24 hours offline begin accumulating rested experience. The rested experience doubles the received experience during the rested state, until expired. 3v3 arenas are now cross-server, giving players a wider pool of opponents to fight against. Of the additional changes, blacksmiths can now synthesize legendary equipment for levels 40, 50, and 60. Items required for this equipment can be found in normal and nightmare dungeons, as well as the Arena shop. Guilds have received a massive updated as part of the patch. Guild members can now chat amongst themselves using a private channel. The new Guild chambers territory offers guild members the ability to gain a great deal of contribution and experience. Finally, the top 16 guilds each week can participate in an arena to see who lasts the longest. Rewards will be based on how fast you defeat your opponents, and how long you last in battle.
