Bayonetta joins the Brawl...ing cast of Anarchy Reigns!

Bayonetta joins the Brawl...ing cast of Anarchy Reigns! screenshot

Anyone remember Sasha from Anarchy Reigns? She's the violent lady who looks nothing like Bayonetta except for the fact that they both have big shiny butts. That was enough to get some people to call her a Bayonetta clone. Butts -- they mean a lot to people. In fact, if you look up "Anarchy Reigns Big Butt" in the Dtoid search field, that story about Sasha is the first thing that comes up.

Strangely enough, if you look up "Anarchy Reigns Big Booty", a story about the relatively small-butted Mathilda is the first thing you get. Go figure.

I've got to wonder how Sasha feels right now? I imagine it's hard not to fear being upstaged by someone like Bayonetta. The stand-in will now go toe to toe with the starlet. That's got to be intimidating.

Personally, I'm hoping Sasha comes out on top here. I tend to be a sucker for underdogs. That's not to say I don't like Bayonetta too. She's a great break dancer, an above average magic user, and I really like that she's totally covered in hair. That said, I still don't see why she's so quick to act horny and/or take off all her "clothes" in the middle of a fight. Doesn't seem very practical

Guild Wars 2 microtransactions take a cue from EVE Online

Guild Wars 2 microtransactions take a cue from EVE Online screenshot

ArenaNet has finally spilled the beans on the details of microtransactions in the upcoming Guild Wars 2. The latest blog post by Mike O'Brian, president of ArenaNet, explains what we can expect.

Players will be able to buy cosmetic items, account services, and time-saving items. Mike stressed that they want everyone to be able to enjoy the game without spending anything beyond the initial one-time cost of Guild Wars 2. ArenaNet just wants to offer more to those people who desire it.

There will be three in-game currencies: gold, karma, and gems. Gold will be used like it is in essentially every other MMO; karma can only be earned by doing things in game, like tokens in World of Warcraft; and gems are bought with actual cash similar to the PLEX system in EVE Online.

Players will be able to trade gems for gold, meaning anyone with tons of gold will still be able to buy cool items without having to fork over real money, and if you have more cash than time, you can buy gems to purchase items. This whole system will hopefully prevent gold farmers from ruining everything.

Round of 32 begins for Madden NFL 13 cover vote

Round of 32 begins for Madden NFL 13 cover vote screenshot

After a preliminary play-in round with two Madden NFL 13 cover choices from each NFL team, the results are in: the bracket you see above contains the people's top 32 picks for sports gaming's most storied cover. You can cast your votes in Round One right now at ESPN.com/MaddenVote.

Each round lasts for one week, with a recap of the previous round coming every Wednesday at 5 PM EDT on ESPN's SportsNation. Starting at 9 AM EDT tomorrow, March 22, fans can set up their own voting brackets on the Madden NFL Facebook page, vying for prizes such as copies of Madden NFL 13 and Super Bowl tickets.

The St. Louis Rams are the only team without a candidate: their original representative, wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, signed with the New England Patriots after the play-in round began, giving fans of the Super Bowl XLVI losers a second choice alongside tight end Rob Gronkowski. He and his surgically repaired left ankle probably don't want to be on the Madden box, anyway.

Yesterday arrives tomorrow

But today you get the launch trailer.

Yesterday is the stylish new adventure game from Pendulo Studios, creators of the Runaway trilogy, which might be the only three adventure games I haven't played in the last few years. Apparently they weren't too shabby.

Adventure games with multiple protagonists really do float my boat, add crazy cults and vanishing hobos and you can consider me intrigued. Not by the video of course, I have no idea what's going on there. Yesterday launches on the PC tomorrow, so get your deerstalkers -- or whatever passes for detective gear these days -- and get sleuthing!

NCsoft bows out of E3, probably playing Farmville instead

NCsoft bows out of E3, probably playing Farmville instead screenshot

I know you folks are starting to compile your own personal lists of who will or won't be in attendance at E3 this year, right? Well it seems you can definitely count on seeing Zynga there, so go ahead and breathe a sigh of relief. A few others though, will not be making an official appearance.

Atari and NCsoft have both confirmed that they will not have a booth this year. NCsoft, with Guild Wars 2 launching in the near future, stated that their focus will be on events that let them connect directly with gamers, not the press. That's a totally justifiable decision seeing as the press is already in love with Guild Wars 2. As for Atari, it's just not their scene anymore.

Eve Online dev CCP Games won't be attending as an Exhibitor, but with Dust 514 just over the horizon I'd be baffled if they weren't a part of Sony's press conference. Finally Blizzard, who still won't be attending. Diablo III is almost here, World of Warcraft is getting its Mists of Pandaria expansion, they've got their own flavor of Dota in the works, and not only are they skipping E3, but Blizzcon is cancelled this year? What is this nonsense?!

At least we've got Zynga. I suppose they're making a strong effort to win us over. Us, the gamers who cry "THOSE AREN'T REAL GAMES!" at the first mention of Farmville. I hope there's Words with Friends swag. 'Swag,' by the way, is worth 8 points.

Zynga has bought OMGPop, developer of Draw Something

In a conference call today, social gaming megalith Zynga has announced the acquisition of OMGPop, the developer responsible for the wildly popular Draw Something for iOS devices. According to a post at the Wall Street Journal (as reported by Joystiq), Zynga shelled out $200 million for the company whose staff will be joining the Zynga New York studio.

This continues the pattern of Zynga buying up anything honing in on their market. They could very well have just made their own variant of the Pictionary game, of course, but why bother when you have piles of cash lying around and a great product already exists?

My journey with Journey

My journey with Journey screenshot

By now, you have probably played thatgamecompany's fascinating, beautiful new PSN game, Journey. And you have probably formulated your own thoughts on how the game made you feel.

Knowing that playing Journey was sure to make me feel ... something, I decided to document every single minute of my experience with the game -- from beginning to end. Every thought. Every feeling. Every reaction.

If you have yet to play Journey, I would recommend not reading this, as the game is best played without any idea what to expect. But for everyone else, I hope this unfiltered stream of consciousness while playing through Journey will inspire you to share your own thoughts and feelings on the game.

Join me on my journey with Journey.

00:00 -- A new journey.

00:02 -- I move around for the first time.

00:03 -- Running through the sand, I experiment with my abilities. Huh. I just flashed some kind of light power. What does that do ...?

00:05 -- The mountain comes into view. I gasp. Gorgeous.

00:09 -- I learn to glide.

00:11 -- Ah, that's what that flash does. I activate a pack of flowing fabric and sail through the air. Beautiful.

00:12 -- I reach a circle of light and start to meditate.

00:13 -- Who is this shadowy character standing before me? And what will I find at that mountain?

00:14 -- I see a glimpse of someone running away from me in the distance. Did my eyes play tricks on me?

00:16 -- Whoa. Another player just joined me. I will follow him or her to see where they lead.

00:21 -- I run through the rolling sands with my new friend. We don't speak, but we guide each other on the correct path.

00:23 -- I made a new friend.

00:24 -- Our joint meditation begins.

00:25 -- I think about my real-life brother, and how much I care for him. I would love to experience this with him.

00:26 -- The sands part before us. We continue forward.

00:27 -- A shooting star? I can't take my eyes off it. The mountain is getting closer.

00:28 -- My partner disappeared. Did he not like me?

00:29 -- I sit down at the top of a dune to take in the beauty of the world around me.

00:30 -- I want to move forward, but this moment of reflection is quite beautiful. Maybe I will stay here for just a few more minutes ...

00:33 -- Oh! A flying ... carpet? Scarf? It is showing me the way! I have to follow.

00:34 -- The flying carpet has friends! And one of them is carrying me forward! Nice to interact with something -- anything! -- in this vast desert.

00:35 -- The friendly carpets dance and play around me as I head in the direction of the mountain. Their playful sounds of joy are comforting.

00:37 -- So this is where the carpets were leading me ...

00:40 -- My friend is back! But his scarf is much longer. Is it the same friend? Or is this someone new? He greets me with a friendly flash of his power. I didn't realize how much I missed having someone around.

00:43 -- We have reached a dark, scary place. And my friend is running so far ahead ...

00:44 -- Come back!

00:45 -- I am all alone again. But at least the carpets are here to guide me.

00:46 -- Maybe it's my fault my friend left. Maybe I was moving too slow. I miss him ...

00:47 -- Another friend appears!

00:48 -- I am abandoned right away. Please don't leave me! I need some help in this part!

00:50 -- Alone again, but entering a new area. I slide down sand, my scarf blowing behind me. The music picks up as I surge ahead. I feel better about being by myself. The experience is exhilarating.

00:51 -- I land softly at the base of some falling sand. An orange glow surrounds me and the nearby ruins.

00:55 -- Secrets are hidden everywhere in this massive area. A documented history? A series of clues? Clues to what?

00:58 -- Again, I slide down a sand drift. My heart races. A smile forms on my face. The mountain appears, silhouetted against the setting sun. A gorgeous sight.

00:59 -- I reach the bottom as day turns to night right before me. A new friend is waiting for me. Hopefully this one will stick by my side.

01:00 -- We enter the familiar glowing circle of light. A figure stands before me.

01:02 -- As I wake from meditation, my friend is gone. Again. Alone. My heart hurts.

01:03 -- Night. A beam of moonlight illuminates the sand below me.

01:04 -- As I walk into the dark horizon, my real-life dog Luna curls up at my feet and goes to sleep. Her warmth makes me feel better. Less alone. I pet her and tell her I love her.

01:07 -- A room full of flowing scarves! They move like seaweed at the bottom of a deep blue sea.

01:09 -- I fall to the bottom of a dark room. Trapped. It's dark. How do I get out?

01:10 -- A flash of light. What is it? No, wait, who is it? It's my friend! He is back! He flashes his light as if to guide me towards him. He is helping me!

01:11 -- I still don't know how to get out of here. But my friend won't leave me. He flashes his light to help me see.

01:14 -- I panic. I can't find a way out of the hole. I don't want my friend to leave!

01:15 -- He doesn't leave. He stays right there, flashing his light to show me the way. I flash back as if to say thank you.

01:16 -- Aha! I can use the "seaweed"! I glide up a scarf as if it were a ladder. I make it to the top of the deep pit. My friend is standing there. He waited this whole time. I flash once more. Thank you, friend. Thank you for not leaving me.

01:18 -- We move forward into a dark cave. Together. A stone monster emerges from the sand, but quickly flies off.

01:20 -- What is that in the distance? It is getting closer. It looks like ... THE MONSTER! It is back! It puts me in its sights and attacks. My friend tries to distract him, but it doesn't work. I am hit.

01:21 -- Recovering, I run behind a pillar for protection. My friend joins me.

01:22 -- We run forward from the monster. More monsters begin to give chase.

01:23 -- We slide down a hill, the monsters right behind us. They get closer. Closer.

01:24 -- At the last second, the monsters are knocked away by a field of light we activate using our powers. That was close. I catch my breath.

01:25 -- We meditate.

01:26 -- When I awake from my meditation, my friend is still there. He is still there! I smile. I am beginning to really like this new partner of mine.

01:27 -- We journey forward.

01:28 -- A massive tower stands before us.

01:35 -- By working together, my friend and I make it to the top of the complicated structure.

01:36 -- We enter another circle of light, side-by-side.

01:37 -- The music crescendoes just as the meditation begins. Breathtaking.

01:38 -- The mediation is over. A door opens.

01:39 -- As I run down a snow-filled hallway, I have glimpses of my family, friends, and loved ones. I think about how much I care for them. I smile.

01:40 -- The base of the mountain. I am almost there.

01:41 -- A snowstorm starts to build.

01:42 -- We find some shelter behind a few ornate stones to avoid being blown away.

01:43 -- One of the monsters is back, but far in the distance.

01:45 -- My friend falls behind on the snowy cliffs. I send out flashes of light to reassure him I am there.

01:48 -- We rest by a lantern, discovering a hidden secret.

01:50 -- We continue making our way up the side of the mountain. Snow blows all around us.

01:51 -- I see the monster again in the distance. I turn back to my friend, but he is gone. I lost him in the snow.

01:52 -- My search ends in heartbreak. He is nowhere to be found. The music seems to know this. It grows more menacing by the second.

01:53 -- My friend ... where did he go? Did he lose me as well? Did he abandon me?

01:55 -- I can't just wait around. I have to continue. But we have been through so much ...

01:56 -- The monster keeps circling the area. I have to move on. Sorry, friend. Sorry for losing you. Thank you for everything.

01:58 -- The monster attacks! I am thrown across the snow.

02:00 -- Another attack! I don't know how much more of this I can take!

02:02 -- I spot a path in the side of a cliff. I slowly make my way there. Scared. Sad. Alone.

02:03 -- Safety. From the snow. From the monster. Let me rest here for a bit ...

02:04 -- Was it my fault? Did I lose my friend? He helped me so much.

02:05 -- I have to move on.

02:06 -- The monster. Oh, please not now. Go away! You are scaring me!

02:07 -- Run! Run! It's coming! Just a little farther ...

02:08 -- Safe.

02:10 -- Wait. This lantern. This looks familiar.

02:11 -- It hits me. No. Oh no. I am going the wrong way. I am back at the start of the mountain trail. The snow must have turned me around. Now I know why I lost my friend. I have been going the wrong way! I am so sorry, friend. I failed you.

02:12 -- Back to my journey. I have to continue on ...

02:15 -- Back to the spot I lost my friend. Sorry again.

02:17 -- A quick glimpse of the mountain helps me focus. I must get there.

02:20 -- Approaching a temple. Leaving the snowy wasteland behind is making me feel a little better.

02:22 -- I am covered with snow as I make my way along the edge of the temple. The winds are brutal.

02:25 -- A flash. Of what?

02:27 -- It's hard to walk. The mountain is fading away. It is silent.

02:28 -- I collapse.

02:29 -- Surrounded by strangers. Or friends? I am revived. I shoot into the sky. My emotions are out of control. I am on the verge of tears.

02:30 -- The top of the mountain. I am reborn.

02:31 -- I fly freely. Unhindered. Unafraid.

02:32 -- The mountain peak is so close!

02:33 -- I glide ahead. Faster. Faster. Nothing can stop me!

02:34 -- I am free. I am happy. So, so happy!

02:35 -- This is glorious!

02:36 -- I am light itself! The mountain peak is right there!

02:38 -- I have arrived.

02:39 -- I walk forward into the light.

02:40 -- I think about all the friends on my journey. All the friends I have lost. I think about my family. My loved ones. My entire body fills with nothing but love.

02:41 -- A bell chimes.

02:42 -- Peace.

Rayman 3 HD is out now, go buy it!

Rayman 3 HD is out now, go buy it! screenshot

So, both times I've saved up Microsoft Points solely using the Xbox Live Rewards program, I've bought a Michel Ancel game. Last fall, I picked up Beyond Good & Evil HD and today I bought Rayman 3 HD. I never planned for that to happen, it just worked out that way. I thought it was kind of funny. Anyway, Rayman 3 HD is out now on XBLA and PSN! As I just said, I played a good amount of Rayman 3 HD this morning, and I can confirm it is most definitely worth the ten bucks.

The visuals have of course been boosted up to modern standards (at a smooth 60 FPS), there's now achievements, leaderboards, nine new minigames, and improved audio quality. There's also some Rayman: Origins concept art in the extras menu, which was a nice little surprise to find. It's looking absolutely stunning and feels as fun to play as it ever was, but if you're still not convinced, I'm sure the launch trailer or gallery below will do the trick.

Frogger crosses the road yet again, this time in neon

Frogger crosses the road yet again, this time in neon screenshot

Arcade classics Frogger and Pac-Man have been thoroughly run into the ground. Both are available on every single platform conceivable in some form or other and odds are, you're sick of them. The difference between the two is that Namco managed to deliver a wonderful modern version of Pac-Man in the form of Championship Edition DX while Konami vomited out Frogger 3D and crossed their fingers.

In what can only be described as a stroke of genius, Konami has announced Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition with its neon styling that screams "look how up-to-date we are!" If the bright lights don't float your boat, you'll have a slew of skins to swap between including Contra and Castlevania-themed options. If you're still carrying a torch for Frogger, this one will be available on PSN, XBLA, and WiiWare later this Spring.

Ace Combat Assault Horizon DLC turns Tomcats to Valkyries

Ace Combat Assault Horizon DLC turns Tomcats to Valkyries screenshot

And now for the latest report from your Namco Bandai crossover collaboration DLC expert, me. Thankfully for you people sick of Idolm@ster-themed DLC*, the latest update for Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is for an anime property non-creepers might actually like: Macross (aka Robotech). In celebration of the seminal transforming mecha anime's 30th anniversary, Namco Bandai are releasing two skins for the F-14 Tomcat match the color schemes of the legendary VF-1 Valkyrie Variable Fighters (aka Veritechs). Check out some pics of it below.

As nerds know, the VF-1 series' design is based heavily on the F-14 Tomcat, what with the swinging wings and all. The VF-1S version of the skin even includes the Skull Squadron logo on the tail, for all you would-be Roy Focker-types. Sadly, the skins do not add the ability to transform your jet into GERWALK or Battroid (aka Guardian or Battloid mode to westernized fans) modes. Even more sadly, the skins will not be available outside Japan, due to the licensing-rights maelstrom that swallows any attempt to bring Macross to the west. You may now begin shaking angry fists at the gods of trademarking and copyright.

*Actually there is some new Idolm@ster DLC, namely skins for Yayoi, Makoto and Yukiho. And those will make it across! Pics are also below.

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two confirmed for 360/PS3/Wii

Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two confirmed for 360/PS3/Wii screenshot

Talk of a sequel to Epic Mickey has been going around for what feels like quite a while -- I was almost starting to get worried. This week, the game was shown off to media. We'll have a full preview for Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two on Friday, but for now, The Associated Press has the first details.

Perhaps most importantly, Junction Point Studios has focused on improving the camera for Epic Mickey 2. In addition to giving the characters voices -- including Oswald, a first for the rabbit -- the team is making the game a musical. Yes, a musical! Can't say I saw that one coming.

Expanding this to a wider audience with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions is good news, as is the sound of drop-in/drop-out cooperative play.

Podtoid 194: Dick Pixels (with Danny Baranowsky)

This week, the derptastic duo is joined by none other than videogame music man Danny Baranowsky. We discuss his work on Hunger Games, the controversy surrounding The Binding of Isaac, and Danny's history as a composer. It also turns out that this tunesmith is more than capable of getting involved with Podtoid's less ... savory ... discussions.

From atheism to Bill Cosby to sexual deviance and drug intake, there's plenty of ridiculous chatter on offer. It's pretty good stuff, even if Danny is certain his family can never, ever, hear this recording.

BioWare to provide 'more clarity' for Mass Effect 3

BioWare to provide 'more clarity' for Mass Effect 3 screenshot

I was hoping all of this drama was going to start dying down sooner rather than later. After seeing BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka's response to Mass Effect 3 players, I'm afraid it's only going to get more intense as we slip into further absurdity.

"The journey you undertake in Mass Effect provokes an intense range of highly personal emotions in the player; even so, the passionate reaction of some of our most loyal players to the current endings in Mass Effect 3 is something that has genuinely surprised us," writes Muzyka. "This is an issue we care about deeply, and we will respond to it in a fair and timely way. We’re already working hard to do that."

"Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. You’ll hear more on this in April."

Muzyka continues: "We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received. This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue."

Final Fantasy XIII-2's Mass Effect 3 DLC out March 27th

Final Fantasy XIII-2's Mass Effect 3 DLC out March 27th screenshot

It's news to me, but it seems there was some Mass Effect 3-themed DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2 in the works. Given other recent moves, I get the impression that Square Enix is using Serah and Noel's adventures as something of a testbed for making DLC work with their major brands. EA is clearly glad to help, and the results are due next week, on March 27th.

In the meantime, look at Serah and Noel dressed up in gender-appropriate N7 armor. I have to say I'm mildly disappointed. About the only "iconic" thing about Commander Shepard's armor is the "N7" icon. And Ezio's Assassin's Creed: Revelations outfit is easily fabulous enough to fit in with a Final Fantasy game. Personally I wanted to see Tali and Garrus costumes, ones that change the character models to have three fingers on each hand and freaky-yet-kind-of-hot legs.

So here's a bill to put warning labels on videogames

Posted: 21 Mar 2012 04:00 AM PDT

So here's a bill to put warning labels on videogames screenshot

Congressmen Joe Baca (D-Calif.) and Frank Wolf (R-Va.) have introduced a lovely bill this week that would treat videogames like cigarettes, forcing them to carry warning labels. Should the bill become law, all games would have to carry the following warning:

WARNING: Exposure to violent video games has been linked to aggressive behavior.

Aside from the fact that it's just not true (there is still no conclusive link, and the tests performed to date have been sketchy at best), the Violence in Video Games Labeling Act seems like yet another wasteful endeavor to implement something that'll get shot down for being unconstitutional.

I'd love to see Baca and Wolf's evidence, though. They say it exists, but fail to provide any proof.

"Just as we warn smokers of the health consequences of tobacco, we should warn parents -- and children --about the growing scientific evidence demonstrating a relationship between violent video games and violent behavior," claimed Wolf. "As a parent and grandparent, I think it is important people know everything they can about the extremely violent nature of some of these games."

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the kind of nonsense we pay old men to think about. Isn't it lovely?

Here's the entire bill (labeled H.R. 4204), in any case. What a crock of shit:

To require certain warning labels to be placed on video games that are given certain ratings due to violent content.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION REGULATION.

a) REGULATION.—Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Consumer Product Safety Commission shall promulgate regulations to require the warning label described in subsection (b) to be placed on the packaging of any video game that is rated ‘‘E’’ (Everyone), ‘‘Everyone 10+’’ (Everyone 10 and older), ‘‘T’’ (Teen), ‘‘M’’ (Mature), or ‘‘A’’ (Adult) by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board.

(b) WARNING LABEL CONTENT.—The warning label required under a regulation issued under subsection (a) shall be placed in a clear and conspicuous location on the packaging of the applicable video game and shall state: ‘‘WARNING: Exposure to violent video games has been linked to aggressive behavior.’’.

(c) VIDEO GAME DEFINED.—As used in this Act, the term ‘‘video game’’ means any product, whether distributed electronically or through a tangible device, consisting of data, programs, routines, instructions, applications, symbolic languages, or similar electronic information (collectively referred to as ‘‘software’’) that controls the operation of a computer or telecommunication device and that enables a user to interact with a computer controlled virtual environment for entertainment purposes.

GAME officially files for administration

GAME officially files for administration screenshot

Well, looks like the final nail is being driven into GAME's coffin at an inexorable, torturous, pace. Following weeks of humiliating failures, the UK retailer has finally filed for administration, having been unable to find a way to remain solvent.

The short term plan is for GAME to continue operations while discussing with lenders and third parties under cover of darkness. There is still the chance of a complete purchase by another company, with Wal-mart and OpCapita allegedly interested in taking over. Other reports suggest GAME could relaunch on its own, dropping the chain of GameStation stores. GAME says that it "challenges" such suggestions, though won't be specific.

This year, GAME has failed to stock games from Electronic Arts, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Capcom and Tecmo Koei, with further reports that Microsoft and Activision had dropped support. The company's decline has been rather embarrassing to watch.

I never liked GAME as a company, but it sucks for the people working on the store floors -- the people who always get screwed hardest by the awful business decisions of the powers-that-be.

I'll admit, half the reason I wanted to do this post is so I could keep writing Gon Paku Paku Paku Paku Adventure. The other half is that adorable orange dinosaur in the game's announcement screens. Look at it! D'aaaaaw!

According to the early marketing materials, this 3DS from Namco Bandai expects you to "eat, explore, and sleep." Sounds pretty much like my daily activities, if you remove the exploring and just do the eating part fifteen times.

Anyway, it looks like it might be a laugh, so I hope to hear more soon. It's out in Japan on June 14.

Bioware 'done' with Dragon Age II

Coincidentally, so am I! It seems as if only yesterday Bioware was pandering to fans, promising Varric DLC, Flemeth DLC, Leliana DLC, and Morrigan DLC. Well, as of this week, EA's RPG sweatshop has stated that they're completely done with Dragon Age II -- no DLC, support, or expansions. I know people who bought DAII because of the promises of Varric DLC, so no doubt some of you out there are disappointed. Considering it was already outed that the game was rushed, this doesn't bode well for the franchise as a whole, despite the fact that they're seemingly already moving to the next cash cow -- which may or may not be Dragon Age III.

As everyone probably knows, Dragon Age II, while functioning as a servicecable shallow action RPG, had a ton of mechanical and design issues, most notably the constant reusal of assets and dungeons. When Bioware promised new DLC, fans gave a sigh of relief, thinking that maybe future content would solve a few fundamental issues with the game. We ended up getting one lackluster sidestory and a vehicle for the wooden Felicia Day. Has someone made a mod that ports most of Origins into Dragon Age II yet?
