Comments of the Year: Part 1 Posted: 25 Dec 2011 04:00 AM PST  BONUS GAME: Think up a good caption for the header image and get a mention in COTY: Part 2!  Comments of the Year is a feature where we scour the Comments of the Week archive looking for comments. The ones that make you think the fullest, the ones that make you laugh the heartiest and the ones that make you cry the hardest (but also laugh the most), and consolidate them into an entertaining package for the viewing pleasure of you, the Destructoid community.  Comments will fall into three categories:  TRUTH: Merry Christmas!  LOL: The Special Brew Santa ads aren't quite as magical as the Coca-Cola ones. The DTOID Show: Our Top Gaming Moments Of 2011! Posted: 25 Dec 2011 03:30 AM PST Merry Christmas, everybody! I'm gonna keep this short because idiot thought it was a good idea to put a small tree in my house and then leave a bunch of presents sitting under it, so I need to go get rid of that crap before anybody trips on it or it becomes a fire hazard. In the meantime, here's The Destructoid Show's top stories of 2011. Some good, some bad, some of them barely aren't even what you'd consider "stories," but all of them are things from the last year that somehow involve video games.  I want to thank you guys for watching the show and making this such an awesome year. It was right about this time last year that I'd gotten the news I'd be hosting the show, and it's been as much fun as it looks. If all goes as planned, we'll be doing another one of these in a year's time, and it'll have a substantial pyrotechnics budget and lots of dancing girls. Take it easy, guys!

Just watch the above and prepare to have your heart filled with Christmas cheer. There is so much to love about ... there is so much to ... Whew. Sorry. I am having some trouble typing. Okay, I'm okay. Deep breath. There ... there is so much to love about ... BAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW! I CAN'T HOLD IT IN ANY LONGER! THAT LEVEL GETS ME EVERY TIME! I am so sorry. Merry Christmas, Destructoid! Posted: 25 Dec 2011 01:25 AM PST Merry Christmas to all the wonderful, beautiful people come to Destructoid every day for their gaming news and related nonsense. We truly do love you all, and we're so happy that you've stuck around all this time.  The holidays are a time to think about your family and be thankful for what you have. The Destructoid staff is a family, and we consider you all our extended family.  So think of Jim as your perverted uncle, or Chad as the most festive family member ever. Think of Niero as that guy that gives you really wierd gifts that you love anyway. Samit would play you a song on his guitar and sing a sweet, sweet song. Max is the family member that might make a move on your girl. Tara is the family member that would put extra care in gift wrapping, with pretty bows and shiny paper. Conrad's the guy that would give you underwear for Christmas. Holmes is the guy with the great Christmas sweaters and the big hugs and smiles. Jordan would help you clean up the holiday dishes because he's good like that. And Hamza is easily the family drunk. Me? I'm that guy that dresses up his dog.  We here at Destructoid wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Now quit reading Destructoid and spend time with your other family! Sega shows off the next Project Diva game with Cat Food Posted: 25 Dec 2011 12:00 AM PST Sadly for fans of strange merchandising, Sega aren't teasing a game with actual fodder for felines. Instead the video shows the song entitled "Cat Food" by Vocaloid composer "doriko", as seen in the next installment of the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA rhythm game series. While it hasn't been stated direct which platform this particular trailer is for, judging by the polygon count and job listings from back in October, it's most likely for the PlayStation Vita. It's due next year. The choice of platform isn't too much of a surprise, seeing as Sega's shown particular affection for Sony's platforms when it comes to Vocaloids, with three Project DIVA games on the PSP, two PS3-based Dreamy Theater expansions, and even an appearance on the PS3 version of Namco Bandai's own idol game, Idolm@ster 2. Nintendo fans needn't feel deprived, though, as the 3DS will finally get a Vocaloid game in the form of Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai, which seems to play like Project DIVA, but rocks a super-deformed style and more casual-friendly difficulty level.
