| Team Fortress 2 Celebrates Halloween With Costumes and a Map Posted: 31 Oct 2011 09:21 AM PDT For the third year running, Team Fortress 2 is running a Halloween event. However, this is the first time the event will take place since the game went free-to-play, meaning anyone who wants to fight an enormous eyeball named Monoculus is just a Steam download away. The Third Annual Scream Fortress Very Scary Halloween Special, as it’s called, brings with it a brand-new Halloween map designed just for the occasion. You’ll have the chance to fight Monoculus and pick up a pair of new Achievements while also trying to earn access to “secret loot” and nine costume packs, each one specific to a single class. There’s also a new comic to read. 2009′s debut event was much tamer; there were a few tweaks, hats, and a map, but not much else. Last year didn’t feature anything as good as the costumes this year, though it did have the Horseless Headless Horsemann, who is perhaps more threatening than a giant eyeball. That is, unless you have an irrational fear of oversized eyeballs, in which case you might want to avoid playing on any Halloween servers between now and November 6, which is how long the event runs for. Also, don’t scroll down. Posted by: admin in Gaming News Thank you for Visiting Gameforumer.com, Hope you enjoyed the stay with us. |

A: There are 2 kinds of feedback, one from veteran gamers which understands the game’s mechanics more and feel that Age of Wulin is shaping up to be a really huge game no matter the functions or art style. The second group of gamers, those who are more casual (which is me), joined the Closed Beta with less baggage in mind and just want to play for the fun of it. They might feel Age of Wulin still has many bugs, but what they don’t realize (I do!) is the current client is just the beginning, hence all the errors and bugs will be ironed out as the game progresses. Overall, the expectations for Age of Wulin rose again through this Closed Beta phase, with the throngs of gamers queuing all over the country waiting to play the game, that is the evidence. A: The European players are just wanting to experience the authentic Chinese Wulin atmosphere of the game, but with the China players they have a different mindset. The sale of Closed Beta keys is purely for the sake of attracting the higher quality gamers. As the expectations for Age of Wulin are very high, it would be disastrous to open the game to those not trusting of what we are doing, not analytic enough and don’t see the big picture. All these negatives will affect the game’s progression. A: Yes, very much. The group of Closed Beta testers are very magnanimous in accepting the faults in the game, and posted very informative suggestion threads in the forums. The extreme negative opinions are less than 1% of the overall given. A: I will not prepare to persuade them, once Age of Wulin is in the Open Beta phase, it means Snail Game has polished the game for release. We believe in what we do, it is up to the market to accept our product or not. A: More open features which will let players explore the world with absolute freedom will be added. This will include the “Qinggong” feature, which was not fully opened in the initial Closed Beta. Character’s actions are still “stiff” and zombie-like, this is something we will like to address in the next client version. So these are the 2 main things which will be added. A: It is hard to say now, with the current client I would give it 85 points, with several areas still needing changes. These include improvements to the new player guidance system. Due to the number of areas which need optimizing, it would certainly take a few months more than anticipated. Open Beta, which was originally scheduled for April 2012, will most probably happen in the 2nd half of 2012. A: Players will gain points, including skill points, faster with the monthly payment. Skills will also progress and upgraded faster. A: I can’t really give a sum on this. Even if you buy a monthly card, you learn skills faster than others, the PvP and PK functions in Age of Wulin requires actual technical skills. Even with the best equipments, a player might not win another who have not spent on the game. Currently, Snail Game is not encouraging players to spend too much every month to play games. While the payment features are not in Age of Wulin yet, we wouldn’t complain and will be happy if players spend a few hundred dollars (Chinese Yuan) every month playing. A: Actually, 95% of the Westerners are not able to differentiate between deities, swordsmanship and fantasy, while the other 5% feels that wuxia is similar to Japan’s Samurai culture or their knights. The only thing we can do now is to be as authentic and by-the-book as possible and present it to them, but we cannot guarantee they will accept our work. A: First, Darkness and Light (link) will get a new game title. We are currently talking to an overseas gaming company, as we are interested in publishing one of its titles. That is all I can say. | Vita Missing Out on the Holidays Doesn’t Worry Sony Posted: 30 Oct 2011 09:16 PM PDT Since it became very apparent the 3DS wouldn’t immediately turn into the hit Nintendo expected it to be, the company has been urging investors to allow the system to reach its first holiday shopping season before passing judgment on it. After all, that’s the best time of the year to be selling gaming hardware. Sony, on the other hand, decided not to rush Vita out so it could benefit from the last quarter of 2011; for much of the world, the new handheld will be out in early 2012, a launch window Sony says it’s fine with. In an interview with All Things Digital, Sony hardware marketing director John Koller called pre-orders for Vita “substantial and” indicated the wait until 2012 is due to a desire to meet demand. “We’ve increased production materially since E3,” he explained. “We learned our lesson to make sure you have enough product.” It’s not a guarantee that having a hardware shortage is actually a bad thing from a sales perspective. It was incredibly difficult to find a Wii for a long period of time after launch, yet it continued to sell well despite that. PS3 wasn’t quite so hard to find even though Sony tried to make it seem like it was. Vita will launch in Japan on December 17. Three months later, on February 22, it’ll be out in North America and Europe — unless you decide to pre-order a First Edition bundle, in which case you’ll be able to get it a week early. Koller points to the launch of the PlayStation Portable’s North American launch in March 2005, when the system sold one million units in its first week, as evidence that a launch during that part of the year isn’t a major disadvantage. Of course, the world was much different in 2005 both in terms of the economy and the state of handheld gaming. Many would say smartphones and tablets have taken a permanent chunk out of the handheld gaming market, and it’s partially due to this that the 3DS has struggled in its first year. Koller, as you’d expect, doesn’t think it’s a problem because Vita offers something more. “This is a larger game experience. We think we are insulated from the competition,” Koller claimed. “We love mobile games. Mobile and tablets games are additive.” We’ll see if Koller is right once the system launches next year at $249.99 (for the Wi-Fi-only model) and $299.99 (for the 3G model).
