Weekend Deals: Grand Theft Auto, Rift, and Arkham Asylum

Posted: 22 Oct 2011 07:46 AM PDT

Grand Theft Auto III

Existing OnLive members should have been notified by now that they can get any full PlayPass title for $1. That’s thanks to a Facebook promotion to get 10,000 new Likes, which was easily accomplished. Should enough Likes continue to be gathered, new OnLive members will also have the chance to get in on the deal and pick up any game on the service for just a buck.

In terms of specific sales, with Grand Theft Auto III celebrating its 10-year anniversary this week, a number of places are offering it and other GTA games for cheap. The best GTA deal is GamersGate and Steam offering the Complete Pack for $12.50 and $12.49, respectively. That consists of every numbered GTA game, San Andreas, Vice City, and the two expansion packs for IV. For such a low price, that is a phenomenal deal even if you already own chunks of the series. And if you do, the PC versions could offer something new for you with the extensive mod support that’s out there.

Other deals of note include Rift for $9.99 at GameStop and Impulse, Deus Ex: Human Revolution on 360 and PS3 for $35.99 from Amazon (and as a download for $29.99), and the Game of the Year Edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum for $6.79 from GamersGate.

Read on for a look at this week’s deals and let us know what we missed in the comments.

[BlizzCon 2011] The rest of the best

Posted: 22 Oct 2011 07:46 AM PDT

The major announcements have been made and the dust has more or less settled. While I am still having wet dreams about Diablo III’s Collector’s Edition, bare in mind that 1 game doe snot make a company. Below are a few more trailers for BlizzCon 2011, including the new cinematic for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm and the fun-looking Blizzard DoTA. BlizzCon 2012 will sure be a rocking event, as I am sure Titan will somehow be teased. Till then, see you guys in Diablo III’s Battlenet!

New York Comic-Con’s Cutest Cosplayers Photo Gallery

New York Comic-Con's Cutest Cosplayers

Everyone loves cosplay galleries — at least, if the amount of traffic, comments, and links they get is any indication. And hey, why not? The amount of attention some people put into their costumes is admirable, sometimes maybe even borderline-crazy. But when you’ve been doing this as long as we have, all those costumes start to blur together. Girls in lovingly detailed but inappropriately skimpy spandex thongs, folks wearing cardboard armor, scrawny guys trying to pass themselves off as muscular slabs of superheroism, hefty dudes straining the stitching on their Char Aznable uniforms… it’s the same show after show. After a while, you just need a fresh take on it all.

Luckily, we found exactly that at this year’s New York Comic-Con. Maybe it’s the family-oriented nature of the show, or maybe it’s just the event’s close proximity to Halloween. Whatever the case, the cosplayers who caught our eye were the legions of little kids roaming the show while decked out in full costumes. From classics like Batman to newfangled characters like Hatsune Miku, the under-10 set was well-represented at NYCC. And to be honest, they kind of melted our hearts. There’s something awesomely sincere about a pre-teen Doctor Who brandishing his sonic screwdriver with a determined expression on his young face that a 35-year-old in the same threads could never hope to capture.

We photographed our favorite next-gen geeks from NYCC — with their parents’ permission, of course! — and have rounded them up into this gallery so that your heart, too, can be melted. Enjoy, and prepare to say, “Awww.” (A lot!)

[BlizzCon 2011] World of Warcraft : Mists of Pandaria

Posted: 21 Oct 2011 01:44 PM PDT

(Expansion website) So, the expansion which everyone talked about following the not-so-secret trademark of “Mists of Pandaria” by Blizzard has been officially announced. I am personally more hyped about the new class rather than race to be honest. The Monk?! I would love to see what skills this class has. Can’t wait!
