| Review: Ratchet & Clank All 4 One is Not One 4 All Ratchet Fans Posted: 19 Oct 2011 07:36 AM PDT I honestly have no idea how I got through the first few video games I played during my childhood. I’m not just talking about the NES stuff from the mid-’80s, but games like the Smurfs for the Atari 2600. Assuming my memory is correct, there’s a random fence that, if you didn’t jump over in precisely the right way, meant instant game over. And somehow, I had put up with that damn instant death fence — again and again. I’m not sure whether I did so because I was a very perseverant child, or if I simply had nothing better to do than try-and-try-and-try again. Back then, video games for kids were simple, crude, and a bit on the cruel and unrelenting side. Nowadays, kids games have dialed down the cruelty to the point where failure is not only not an option, but it’s not really even acknowledged. But even though they’ve become easier, they have not progressed much in terms of being less janky. It sort of makes sense for some Flash game on a NickJR or Disney XD website to look like it was made in some high schooler’s programming class, but when you see uninspired characters, repeated assets, and horrible glitches in a retail game meant for a home console, it’s downright disheartening. So it’s nice to see that while Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster still adopts the lack-of-failure motif, it’s within a game that looks like people cared about its craft. IGN posted an awesome footage of the game, and it is being narrated by a staff over at Hi-Rez Studios, the developer of the title. It loos seriously amazing, and I love to see hundreds of players swarm over the maps and seeking kills. The traditional room-based MMOFPS is just… too tiny for me. I think I am getting a little claustrophobic in terms of land size in games. Tribes: Ascend is Free to Play with players able to purchase the game one a one time fee fro some perks and a VIP status. There will be a Cash Shop as well in the future. Closed Beta begins November 4. Posted by: admin in Gaming News Thank you for Visiting Gameforumer.com, Hope you enjoyed the stay with us. |
| PlayStation Vita Release Date Set for February 22 Posted: 18 Oct 2011 07:34 PM PDT After giving North America and European gamers nothing more specific than an “early 2012″ window, Sony has finally provided those in the west with a release date for the PlayStation Vita: it’ll be out on February 22, 2012 in North America and Europe. The news was revealed at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco today by SCEA boss Jack Tretton. A Japanese release date of December 17 had already been announced. In North America, the system will be available at two price points: $249.99 for the Wi-Fi-only system and $299.99 for the 3G system (which uses ATT as its provider in the U.S.). For an idea of what to expect of the system, check out 1UP’s recent hands-on roundtable discussion. Soul Reaper’s main focus will be on health, mana and intelligence. A close range character (but not exactly melee yet) due to its scythe, it severely lacks AOE skills compared to other classes. But the Soul Reaper makes up to it with its various devastating single-target damage. As you can see in the videos above, I simply 2-hit enemies a few levels above me with equipments from quests which are not upgraded. Its XP skill (seen in Forsaken World and BoI) will be a grim reaper with flying scythes. The veteran way of playing this character will be the 3 forms (Dark, Light and Demonic) it can change to. Each only lasts around 10 seconds, but several skills dish out more damage, costs less mana and gives more negative effects to targets when hit. I still have no idea why did the developers place such a short amount of time on the transformation buffs.
